American Censorship Day. - KhainiWest - 2011-11-18 @kalovale AKA: It's unnecessary to ban something we won't be able to regulate. We can barely regulate drugs, we won't have enough manpower to regulate the internet. American Censorship Day. - Kalovale - 2011-11-18 KhainiWest Wrote:@kalovale Which is what? Piracy? I can understand it needing regulation, but that's nowhere close to "regulating the internet" seems to suggest. American Censorship Day. - KhainiWest - 2011-11-18 Kalovale Wrote:Which is what? Making sure sites like 4chan don't exist, making sure youtube doesn't have "covers", I mean it's as broad as it implies, anything related to copyright infringement would have to be regulated. Why has it been "okay" before but now it has to be either one extreme or the other? The government has never regulated 4chan, why MUST they start now if they were to fight SOPA? The government has never regulated 4chan, why MUST they start now if they were to fight SOPA? I don't recall that being in question. But I don't find that a legitimate question. It hasn't been fine up until now, it's simply been tolerated but because of (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) New Zealand past a law similar to this, America is trying to follow suit. It is a justified cause to be honest, but unrealistic and were a little too deep to suddenly end it. I see the logic, but I don't see it ever just resolving that easily. American Censorship Day. - Kalovale - 2011-11-19 That is not what I meant. Situations haven't exactly been fine, of course, but at a stalemate where nothing can yet be resolved effectively. My point was that in case the bill fails, things should naturally revert back to the last known stable state, not escalate to either of the extremities: A/ regulated by ISPs and copyright holders or B/ regulated by the government. It's like a kid asking for candies and get not only a refusal but also a detention. American Censorship Day. - KhainiWest - 2011-11-19 Kalovale Wrote:That is not what I meant. To be honest I don't have much of an opinion on that one, I don't know anything that would be considered middle ground.
