All this hype is having the opposite effect on me, I'm slipping into I don't really give a pineapple, forget about Maple.

^ Lies.

You WILL be here the day Maple gets BB patched.

In fact, everyone complaining about it will be here, no exception. It's a S&M kind of relation with Maple. With bondage, lots of bondage. Chin

Yeah but it's making lots of people stop playing until big bang. I know of people who stopped a month ago because they're just waiting for it, I myself don't play as much as I would if I didn't know big bang was coming, they've over hyped it making us look forward to it and only it, so anything we do now in MS is pretty much worthless.

The article uses terms such as 'new skill's, 'balancing', 'restrucure of the underlying mechanics' yet they don't really explain any of these. What underlying mechanics did you guys have a problem with? Tell us a story about an issue. You speak of player feedback and needs being addressed. What are these needs you speak of? Give an example.Did you guys even read anything?

Crappy hype is crappy.

This, really. They need to learn to elaborate on things. Then again, they probably can't because they're making everything up. They're lying and doing a horrible job at it. They didn't do anything other than possibly translate (if that's what the GDT does, not sure if they have a separate team for translations or not). They said a few things they thought the players would want to hear, and probably assume that most of their fanbase would be too young to care about details. So they just vaguely touch points that kids would be excited about, I guess.

As someone who's played (still playing) a newbie in Tespia, all I can say is that the game still feels "disjointed".
- Many quests unrelated to anything else.
- Many quests popping up in your Available tab at the same time all over the world, leaving you confused as to what to do next.

- Quests removed, but reference to them remaining in the text, for example:
--- Dances with Balrogs asks you "Where did you hear the name Andras?" and you "(tell him the story)" even though the whole quest line up to that point got deleted
--- Tigun the Advisor says "You're the person who brought me the books?" when Jay's quest for the history books has apparently got deleted or moved to a much higher level.

- Some quests still not level appropriate, for example:
--- At level 35, Dr. Betty asks for Cogs from level 70+ chronos
--- At level 40, Elpam Gorlab asks for Magnets from level 65 Barnard Grays
--- At level 45, Jane asks for Drake's Blood that can only be gotten in Sleepywood's over-50 area (you literally can't get in before that)

- Some quests hastily changed to match new levels of mobs, but didn't bother to change the text, with absurd results:
--- Nanuke tells you how nutritious seal meat is, then asks you to get some seahorse tails for his huskies.
--- Manji tells you to hunt for the Contract of Darkness among the monsters risen from the dead by its powers: Hector and White Fang :f6:

Granted, none of this stuff is game-breaking, but since they're boasting about going over every little detail to make the game experience smoother... bleh.

Just another hype-filler annoucement while they try to get BB ready for release.

That's quite the disappointment, but I guess it can't be helped. There's so much content to cover that you can't expect them to actually work enough to make everything consistant, can you? The same people that stated in an earlier hype announcement that Pink Bean was one of the Black Mage's minions? Yeah, have those guys work with continuity.

Yeah, I haven't played for about 3 weeks now.

Only logged to check the Black Friday event and to get some pema NX items with 20% off.

Grinding now that we're so close to BB feels like you're wasting (more of) your time.

This pretty much, had BB come out today I'd be ecstatic, but the longer it takes, the closer it gets to Christmas the less money I want to spend. I think I spent $130 Re-equipping my Archmage this week, however before that I had quit for several months 5 or 6, as opposed to before that where I trained 4 hours or more daily on multiple characters with 2x Cards at every occasion.

With all the restructuring stuff that comes out the more I just want to wait for that instead.

The only difference for me is an Archmage leveling with an Ultimate is undoubtedly faster than anything BB has to offer, so I'm tempted to train.

I swear guys, for the "intelligent bunch" image I have in regards of this particular site, in comparison with the other community places, you seem to not get the point of what this announcement is all about.

People complain that they're tired of the hype fodder, that they should elaborate, that they tell a lot without telling anything concrete, that they take credit for something the main developing team did... Come one, guys! This is PR at its most basic. You really forget that these things are not only targeted to the guys that play a min-max, math and statistical driven, game but also to the average guy who doesn’t know all the underlying works in regards to the patch.

PR people are just doing their work, really, that’s all there is to it. Why should they explain in deep mechanic aspects of their game when most of the gamers that go to the site to read the news are not particularly inclined to that? How would the PR department look if they posted a new saying that the copy-paste effort is going along well? From that perspective, what they did is pretty standard business tactic, really.

On the other hand, if people are getting down because of the Bing Bang hype, most of the time its because we brought in on ourselves, by following closely the development and implementation in KMS. GMS started the hype a few months back, yes, but most of us have been on “the scoop” for far longer, that certainly not being the fault of GMS.

We get the point of it. Nobody is criticizing them for not going into deep details regarding formulas and such that would rattle young minds. We already know the changes, we don't need them to tell us. We're pointing out that they gave no information for anyone that didn't know the changes. Just spouting generic crap isn't doing a good job at PR. If they want to get people excited they have to say more than what's already on the teaser page. They're just doing their job, but what we're saying is that they could do a better job.

VirgilDiablo Wrote:you're still playing on a test server though...

Are you implying they'll change such details before the patch goes live? Don't get your hopes up.

You kind of have to understand that...

1) They are still under NDA.
2) Developers of any kind are rarely good at PR, or expressing technical details easily.

Seeing as they aren't really developing anything you'd think they could do a better job.

This is true, I was thinking more from the perspective of a community rep (think Seth from Capcom) than a developer. Though, in my head, I kinda grouped these two together when it came to Nexon America, considering I cant imagine them "developing" much.

Whether or not they are actually developing anything is irrelevant. Just because you think they aren't doing what their job implies they do, doesn't mean they're magically dr.king or something.

If you expect Nexon to fiddle with quests and such to fix KMS made inconsistencies between Tespia and live patch, you are in for a disappointment

@KaosStorm: I do not know about you, personaly I disslike being taken for a dumbskull friggin peon by a company I have supported for 5 years. Taking credit for something they only marginal were involved with and then having the guts to be vague about what BB really is, no, that is just too rich.

In that case they need to hire someone who can actually do something...

Fully understand your reasoning, but their target audience is a bit on the young side. To them, this is probably akin to tricking children into believing Santa. Not that I'm justifying their take on this interview, but just throwing this fact out there.

I'd love to know your criteria for determining a persons ability to "do something" within several minutes of meeting them.

Behind the Content: Big Bang Developer Interview - Sarah - 2010-12-01

Do you REALLY HONESTLY think that them not saying specific stuff about big bang has any relation to an NDA? It doesn't. It's about trying to be mysterious. Or they just have no pineappleing idea what is included in big bang, which is a very real possibility. These responses are crafted specifically to be mysterious, not cropped in order to avoid lawsuits, which is what the PR department would do if they had actually answered the questions that in a way that would be considered illegal. They weren't talking to RANDOM PRESS. It was two co-workers sitting down trying to hype it up.

The developer who posted this blog didn't actually develop Big Bang, and like you said this PR is crap, whoever posted this isn't doing their job very well in my opinion.

I honestly think that ANYTHING they say has relation to an NDA. Prose was really uptight about it. o.o Do i think that the NDA is the primary reason for being so dry in discussion? Not at all. It's still a factor though and it wasn't mentioned in this thread yet.
