The Quest Specialist medal does count multi-part quests and people still only see totals around 1000, maybe 1100 by now. I find it hard to believe that 75% of the quests are event things. I find it hard to believe that 75% of the quests are event things. Indeed. My quest specialist count is at 1225 and I have 345 event quests finished. Though some of them might be multi-part, it cannot make up for the lack of 2000+ quests. MapleStory Then and Now - Chameleonic - 2010-11-05 Nexon counts quests the same way they count the number of "Users" to get to 7million players playing GMS.
MapleStory Then and Now - Shidoshi - 2010-11-05 The only thing I want them to do is to keep the monster book and test BB enough to not have any game-breaking glitches. But did they change it? Because it would be stupid to have it, with levels, stats, drops and colors wrong. MapleStory Then and Now - Dystopiq - 2010-11-05 Nexon Wrote:...players the chance to show off their stuff for the noobs Did she seriously just refer to them as noobs? MapleStory Then and Now - Potora - 2010-11-05 I just wanted to know how many bugs they've had and how many they have now. O_O Hoping for a lesser #. No real benefit to knowing. Considering how much bigger the whole game is right now a simple comparation of the numbers of bugs at each time shows nothing. Agreed, I regular make new characters to explore the Maple World for nostalgia reasons, and I have to make more then one because I outlevel way too fast the other areas for that level... But that shouldn't be a problem for the people who want to get to lvl 200 as fast as possible and then have nothing to do. MapleStory Then and Now - Rob - 2010-11-05 I find it kinda lame you guys only demonstrate hate for this. Back in 2006 and now, after four years, the game has changed and grown a lot. Makes sense they really show a bit of interest on MapleStory. Hell, it's Nexon cash cow. Game is sometimes unplayable, glitchy and upsetting, to say the least, but a really nice game overall. But frankly the community is so focused on such fickle things, and expect so much not understanding Nexon really isn't entitled to give anything. The biggest complaint I read from 2008 and onward is "omgggg beta was betterrrr, no one cared about damage@@". Legitimate changes that need to be made: Vista compability Less NX dependense(I mean cubes/cards/smega's bring in a lot of revenue, they should find ways to expand the length of how far you can go nx-less) More minidungeons in high populated places Megaphone muter A way to stop DC hack/Packet editing all together (though probably not possible) MapleStory Then and Now - Rob - 2010-11-05 DustBunny Wrote:There are legitimate problems with nexon. Well of course, I totally concur acknowledging those problems. - W7/Vista compatibility is just something the game needs to be on par with today's technologies. - As far as NX goes... I've played for 3 years on and off and haven't ever had a single NX point. It's slow, sometimes frustrating because you see people rushing levels and equipment just at your side, but oh well, what can you do? - Smegas muter, what's the point of having them to Nexon if you can mute them. I know, they suck, they even lag me, but there would be no point in them if you could mute them. - Minidungeons I think will come with time. - DC Hacking and Packet editing is something more deep that should really be taken care of. No matter how. MapleStory Then and Now - KhainiWest - 2010-11-05 Rob Wrote:Well of course, I totally concur acknowledging those problems. Oh you misunderstood me, the first part was simply agreeing with you, under the circumstances there were problems. The last part were obviously problems that they need to address, not to correct you. But as you brought up, I agree it's totally possible to do as such. The problem is the dependence makes it a common situation where you need it, and you need to work for it. I don't believe such dependence should be as much as it is now. But as you said, what can you do? Just ask for it! lol MapleStory Then and Now - Rob - 2010-11-05 DustBunny Wrote:Oh you misunderstood me, the first part was simply agreeing with you, under the circumstances there were problems. Anyway, yeah, if you wanted to take advantage of the possibilities NX gives you, such as cubing, 2x, Gach and some others, yeah, the game becomes NX heavy, and once you get those you have problems living without them. Point is, F2P, P2Enjoy at its fullest. Sadly. It's good for some other games though. DFO isn't NX heavy as MapleStory is. Got you the other way round.DFO will be eventually. I remember when I tried out FLYFF when it first came out everyone was like you don't need an g-cash. Now I hear you can't get passed level 10 without spending money. MS isn't like that but if you wanna be A game top(idk why you would REALLY want that) you'll need NX. I mean I have perm items a czhelm and it's cubed but my ele staff isn't and I'm not cubing it and OK sure people can nag at me "YOU GOT NOOB STAFF 130 WAND BETTER NUB" I honestly don't care. I honor people like you who don't spend money lol. MapleStory Then and Now - rayhovite - 2010-11-05 Rob Wrote:I find it kinda lame you guys only demonstrate hate for this. Noone can deny Maplestory has grown a lot in the past years. The question is.... has it grown enough? Will it grow enough? You have other free to play MMOs that are starting to really stand out and receive such high production values that it sort of takes away the magic of Maplestory. Lord of the Rings Online is one fine example. Granted some of us have invested in this game too much to really enjoy breaking off into yet another MMO, what can you say compels one to stick to MS and not go into bigger MMOs which are supplemented? There is no question Maplestory will need a much bigger development team in the years to come, and much higher production values. Reading that blog gives you a vibe of "we did great with the small team and few resources we had". That's great and all, but it doesn't seem sustainable. The game is starting to show its age. At least support scalable graphics, dudes. MapleStory Then and Now - TaliaNCo - 2010-11-05 This is exactly what I was thinking. They never address the hacking issue which is absolutely the worst part of the game, imo. Judgment Wrote:I feel tempted to talk about the change in hacking from then and now. Maplestory has one thing no mmorprg has been able too or risked doing, that is doing a "charming" graphic design. It's colorful, eye-appealing, and easy to play. That's a lot of reasons I like maplestory. I would probably quit if they changed the graphics to something like world of warcraft or such. I would probably quit if they changed the graphics to something like world of warcraft or such. That would never happen. Maplestory has and will ALWAYS be famous for being one of the if not the first side scrolling MMO. One thing people like to do is take a blast into the past like with Donkey Kong or something. One thing that always gave Donkey Kong, and Mario Bros it's edge is that it was just SO good with utilizing all the features that 2D side scrolling games at that time had. MapleStory does this and pushes it even further. I think one thing that keep people playing is its simplicity. It's a very easy game to catch on what to do yet things like World of Warcraft I could NEVER get into.It was too complex with the like 8 different currencies and crap. How you die go find your body or lose stats or some crap it was just really confusing.NEXON knows how widely popular MapleStory is and as long as it remains success then it will never die. Even if NEXON does release the Black Mage batte I can promise you more will come. There will be an even bigger enemy to face and more areas WILL come. NEXON did a bold move with the addition of Kresea and they REALLY can develop that area a whole bunch. Elin Forest if they ever go back to it, was a major thing they could work off. There could be a whole nother world inside the Maple World. If NEXON really I mean REALLY took time on this it would be the best area ever. Just imagine if they really fully utilize Elin Forest and make the entire Maple World as it was back then. I don't know about you but if NEXON did that so many people would sorta re fall in love with maple. It would be a whole new game almost. MapleStory Then and Now - Shidoshi - 2010-11-05 rayhovite Wrote:At least support scalable graphics, dudes. Can't do that with sprite based graphics, it just doesn't work like that. It's not like they have been lazy all this time and just decided not to release better resolutions. |
