it was meant as a joke, though having to explain it may kill some of the humor.
lets say there wasn't a limit to how many character npcs were in the room. eventually, there would be so many that you wouldn't be able to see grendel originally unless he was in a place where the character npcs could never be.

You can stand next to Grendel. Just need FJ/Tele/Float.
I your NPC is made where you stand, it wouldn't be hard.
