Creation or Evolution? - banditcom - 2008-07-13 Evolution is science; Creation is pretend science. So yeah, Evolution... lol... That's like asking Gravity or Superman-flying? (Warning, contains swearing) I'm not going to watch it now, but I know it's great. And slightly off topic but man... I'd be embarrassed if I were Christian to know this exists: http://www.armorofgodpjs.com/ Yes Ephesians 6:10-18 taken way beyond too literally. Creation or Evolution? - Brandini - 2008-07-13 Rozune Wrote:I've been a Christian my whole life, and I do believe in Creation. No offense to anyone who is Christian (or any other creation-based religion) and believes in evolution, but Christianity and evolution don't mix. If you're Christian, you have to believe in the Bible (or you should, according to the religion). The Bible says God created everything. Not really any room for evolution there. I agree. True Christians who take the word of the bible literly cannot believe in evolution but if we are going to take the bible literly, geology and evolution are wrong since the world is only 6000 years old, if anyone breaks the ten commandments they must be stoned to death, this includes adultery and sex before marriage. Don't forget that if an angel comes to visit you and a pack of Sodomites come to your door demanding angel butt sex, give them your virgin daughters instead. Don't forget that working on the Sabbath is punishable by death too. Kigaz Wrote:Duh a baby wouldn't be able to It depends on what kind of cavement you are talking about. I dont believe humans and monkeys came from a common ancestor but rather that both were created uniquely but that's just me. Why do you believe such a thing? IsaacGS Wrote:There is no debate here. It is a fact that evolution occurs. This is religion trying to destroy scientific fact. Everyone logically has to be an Agnostic since its also basically impssoble to know if life is stimulated related or if a trannsexual robotic cayote created the multiverse. Its impossible to prove its not true, but its easy to say its unlikely since there is no proof supporting it. And being brainwashed since birth to believe random stories is not proof that the stories are real. Cardboardsnail Wrote:Creation to start Who created the creator? Eldin Wrote:I believe in the Christian god and natural selection According to literal interpretation of biblical scripture you cannot believe in both. Why do you believe in the Christian god, he is a rather brute. I prefer the Ancient Egyptians gods, more interesting plots. Everything they have to say I completely agree with, I've seen a ton of their "Bullshit" episodes, and loved everyone I saw. :3 Creation or Evolution? - Nickish - 2008-07-14 Berzerk Wrote:Quite simply, they're amazing. Creation or Evolution? - revansithasasin - 2008-07-14 i pick creationism, but thats just me, its what i believe for reasons that are my own, evolution is a little too slippery for my taste, again, for reasons that are my own, *now leaves thread, for something else better suiting my time* Creation or Evolution? - Brandini - 2008-07-14 revansithasasin Wrote:now leaves thread, for something else better suiting my time* Good considering you didn't do anything useful with your time while posting here. Creation or Evolution? - WiseAlon32 - 2008-07-14 i believe in both... yup believe it or not, both of them can exist because evolution started from somewhere and i believe it was started by a higher force, which means god but not in a religious way. god and science can live side by side, its just that the more popular ones (or should i actually say one?) are fame-seeking gods that push aside science (dont take this last part too literally). Creation or Evolution? - Brandini - 2008-07-14 WiseAlon32 Wrote:i believe in both... The Chrisian god doesn't push away science since he does not exist. Its the Chritians who push away science. Creationism and Science does not contradict each other as much as science and Christianity does but there is also lack of proof for creationism. Creation or Evolution? - Sn1perJohnE - 2008-07-14 Heres a bit of good oddness in the bible that my anthropology teacher told my class one day: There are 2! versions of the creation story, one after another. The first says that the world was made, then man, then plants and animals, and later woman. The second says that the world was made, then plants and animals, then man, and later woman. Really throws a wrench in you plans for world domination when you give two different versions of how things came to be huh? The bible is just a bunch of documents pieced together by politicians and religious leaders, which is basically the same thing. There will be mistakes. Some bibles show certain books/"gospels" other hide them. In a certain gospel it is said Jesus could make wood grow and turn his peers into goats when he was a kid. Creation or Evolution? - ThisIsSal - 2008-07-14 this is a flame-baiting thread, probably made by a teenage atheist who wants to yell at christians. to go on the record, i am not a christian, and my two cents go in the evolution bank. but arguing about it is stupid: anyone who has a scientific mind and believes in the Bible will either have let it alone that certain things depend on faith and not science, and it is an utter waste of time to argue with people who do not have scientific minds and believe in the Bible... not because they're stupid, but because the two realms can't co-exist. everyone should just leave each other alone about this crap and get back to things that matter in some form or way or shape. berating people over the internet isn't going to make them change their deep-seated beliefs. Creation or Evolution? - Katie - 2008-07-14 From what I can tell, no one is arguing about anything. They are simply stating their opinions about things. Creation or Evolution? - Worthyness - 2008-07-14 I don't know where i fit in... Evolution seems logical to me, but i would like to believe that there is some higher being out there watching over me.. not necessarily the Creationism peoples' god, but some higher power in the universe. Heck.... I would support someone who tries to prove evolution with religion and vice versa. That would be an interesting find for me... So i guess I'm neither seriously religious nor scientific. Well, who made existence? Things can't evolve out of nothing. Only nothing can happen from nothing. The thing about religion is, it's mostly faith. If science proved everything, then true faith would mean nothing Creation or Evolution? - IsaacGS - 2008-07-14 Cardboardsnail Wrote:Well, who made existence? It's pointless to ask "What existed before the universe?" because there was no "before" the universe. Time started existing simultaneously with space. Before either existed, there was nothing. It's pointless to discuss the nothing because it's nothing, and not the "vacuum of space" nothing, I mean REAL nothing. Not white or black or anything at all. All matter in the universe was condensed into a point so small that the pressure was enormous. Eventually it burst forth and expanded and in seconds the universe was born. Over time things randomly occurred and here we are. People don't like to think that it's random luck that we exist, so they made up reasons to make humans special. In reality it's simple probability: with the infinite number of stars out there, at least one of them was bound to develop intelligent life. More than likely there's thousands of other intelligent life forms in our own galaxy, and untold millions, billions in the universe as a whole. We'll never even be able to meet some of them because even traveling at the speed of light we could never reach the other side before the universe ended. Not really when you consider that they were two different authors and thousands of years before you're reading the current Bible. Read about redactor criticism or "JEPD". Note that when I say "criticism" I don't mean negative remarks. It means something different when you're talking about literature. |
