this pomegranate is trying way too hard to be madoka, even harder than gen'ei. EVEN IF YOU WIN YOU LOSE.
Because Madoka invented darkness, right?
Anyways, I did thought initially it'd be another not-Madoka like Gen'ei, but I changed my opinion when they announced the second cour. 1 cour maybe would've left us with a pretty forgettable "dark and edgy" show, but I somehow feel like it has something else in store with one more cour. Then, episode 8 happened and it's now actually pretty interesting. I also like how they're handling the incest right now, but it could always go to pomegranate later on.
It's weird. I also started enjoying Chaika more when I found out about the second cour.
No, because Madoka pioneered the crappy "lets pomegranate all over the dreams of little girls!" premise.
And I didn't know Chaika was getting a second cour, that's nice, maybe we will get to see some more of best Chaika, as well as the other two (well, technically three, the two "blue Chaika" are twins though). Red Chaika >= white Chaika > blue Chaikas (if you don't mind that at least one is a gigantic slut) >= spoiler Chaika.

Akuma no Riddle episode 9: Dayum, that was everything I was hoping for and perhaps more. Haru avoiding the assassin on her own was really cool, they made her look both helpless and surprisingly pragmatic all at once, the way she avoided getting killed didn't seem forced at all. No dramatic villain monologues, no dropping of idiot balls, she used the environment to her advantage as well as the slow swinging speed of the killers weapon. If I had any complaint about that whole sequence it's how the killer knew where she was at all times (except the part in the bathroom, but that made sense). Also how the hell was she swinging that massive hammer around, causing that much destruction and not get tired at all? Whatever, it was still awesome. I'll chalk it up to anime logic.
Finally some backstory for the main character and some character development too, which surprised me. the backstory of the hammer swinging girl was also unexpected and seriously creepy, pineappleing pedo's man. You can even see the moment where her psyche just... splits. Scary stuff.
I'm glad I stuck with this show, but the endgame is proving to be really, really awesome.
Black Bullet 09: The last two episodes have been quite nice, probably because of less plot and the screentime that Tina has been getting, plus Yuzuki and now Midori hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggggggggg
Haikyuu!! 09: They really really wanted to get that dramatic effect into this episode. That was a lot of intense emotional voice acting, everyone sounded like they were on the verge of tears. Seemed a bit forced to be honest, but it was a good episode. Hopefully, we're past that for now.
Love Live! S2 09: SNOW FU'CKING HALATION BI'TCHES
Isshuukan Friends 09: It begins.
Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin 08: I feel like this really went downhill. Is there maybe a 2nd cour for this? Because it feels a bit weird to add yet another antagonist, while blurring everyone's relationships even further. Tensai is getting even less screentime T_T YUN HNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGG
Soul Eater NOT 07 & 08: What happened...
Mahouka 09: So... I'm finding it hard to like Tatsuya given that he is basically Superman. And why does everyone hate Superman? Because he can do pineappleing anything and everything without flinching. So pineappleing edgy though, "I have no heart to hate with". Miyuki really pisses me off too. That 110% devotion, acting like he's the second coming of Jesus and everyone else is a Jew trying to crucify him. I read a review or comment or something about the whole author self-insert pomegranate and it really explains well why he's so pineappleing good at everything, muh persecution complex, muh imouto devotion, muh harem. I don't know why it bothers me so much, but God damn... I think the scientific approach to magic is also bothering me too. Might read the source soon to see how much was cut out and if that makes it any better, since I hear it's a fairly decent amount.
Date A Live II 07: So does anyone actually like this show? I've been waiting for more Kurumi this whole time, and the way this played out has just been bad. Quality is a disaster too, but I guess it matches the strength of the plot and characters. I don't think I've seen anything where the characters are more one-dimensional. It's like their personalities are just ripped straight from tvtropes.
WIXOSS 09: Does anyone know why it's pronounced wixloss other than the fact that everyone always loses? Does this count as NTR? I hope it ends with Ryuuko destroying the town like in that dream or whatever, instead of saving everyone since that was said to be impossible to begin with after Hitoe's loss.
Harmonie: So, I decided to watch one of the Anime Mirai 2014 shows since watching 3/4 last year was good (Death Billiards, Arve Rezzle, Little Witch Academia), and I remembered Death Billiards after recommending it to Danny. But seeing this one... I don't know what to think or feel. I think I'm thoroughly creeped out, and find the show "morally objectionable". It was just...

Sakasama no Patema
not completely new, but new enough.
It's good, watch it. Also, Patema is incredibly cute.
Kanojo Flag episode 9: I get whiplash watching this show. CUTE INNOCENT HAREM GIRL STUFF, then suddenly, PLOT, LOTS OF PLOT.
I can't really complain though, a hilarious and cute harem anime with an actually good plot is pretty amazing, usually the "plot" feels tacked on to these things, but it works really well in this show, and the main character is way more interesting than the usual main characters you see.
I've kept wondering who that final girl is in the OP and ED, the one wearing a magical girl costume and pink ribbons in her hair. Looks like the post-credits scene of this episode answered that question.
Spoiler
Nanana's Buried Treasure episode 9:I really hope this show is more than 11-12 episodes long. The plot seems to be moving pretty slow and more characters keep getting introduced, so it seems a waste to have it be so short.
I'm confused about what went on in this episode. So Ikusaba is hunting down Yun (the little girl) because he trapped her inside of some ruins for 3 days, and she has gotten out... somehow, but seems to have lost her memory? I don't really get where this is going, but it's fairly weird.
having a villain now though is good, it gives the characters a reason to unite rather than doing their own thing like they have been.
What the hell is going on with Nanana too? the end of the episode was weird, like why she disappeared when he was looking right at her? it almost looked like a weird time-skip.
Also, kind of unrelated, but it's still an anime:
The new Pokemon X and Y opening is pretty damn great.

Worked my way through Hunter x Hunter the last few weeks. First couple of arcs were solid fun, no complaints. Except for Melody. What a grating character.
But what the hell happened into this Chimera Ant arc? And what the everloving pineapple happened the split second they entered the palace? Time dilates to excruciatingly slow DBZ speeds, the (very smooth) narrator gets abused to the point where it draws me out of the show every episode. Show, don't tell is "How to Make a Story" 101. Very turned off from HxH at this point. Seems pretty clear they were catching up to the manga too fast. And Kite is a sorely underdeveloped character
Such a shame. Magi continues to hold the throne as king of shonen.
Kite had A LOT more development in the manga. Kite isn't even known about until the chimera arc if i remember correctly, whereas in the manga he is introduced in the very first chapter as gons reason for being a hunter and motivation for finding his dad.
Also the chinera ant arc has that drastic chance in pace and mood and feeling and style in the manga too. I think it had more to do with being sick or on leave or whatever, and the anime just stayed true to the original. I happen to think the chimera ant arc was very well done and a LOT more entertaining than it was reading it. I went back and rewatched a lot of the episodes that i had been waiting since 2011 to see animated.

weekly suffering is here
That was some next level NTR, Yuzuki's reaction is pretty much the definition of a psychotic break.
Akuma No Riddle episode 10: Holy pomegranate. I knew there was more to Haru than meets the eye. Last episode was just a glimpse at how resourceful she can be.. but this episode... wow.
Spoiler
Also the animation in this episode was fantastic.
We kind of knew from the start she wasn't a normal person. I assume she possesses some form of mind control, passive or otherwise, on top of her inability to die which I'm not sure any of the others knew about, which is why they all assumed it would be easy to kill her.Spoiler

Akuma No Riddle episode 11: Well, i'm not disappointed by the revelation in this episode, it was kind of obvious after the things Hanabusa was saying in the previous episode.
I REALLY liked the way they handled it though, with Tokaku and Haru both basically questioning everything, it was especially heartbreaking to hear Haru think that maybe her parents only loved her because of her Queen Bee Power. They really conveyed the sadness of the situation, never knowing if someone likes or loves you for you or because of something out of your control. Constantly manipulating everyone without even knowing it would be a very sad way to live, and it explains a lot about Haru's character.
Not happy with her stupid "talking in third person" verbal tic returning though. eurgh.
I have no pineappleing clue what happened at the end there, that shocked me, though i'm sure there is some stupid explanation.
Still really enjoying this show, i'm assuming episode 12 is the final episode and i'm going to be sad to see it go. It was nothing extraordinary, but it did so many things right and was of very good quality.
also, the ED in this episode featuring Nio was the best one of the season, I loved it.

Nanana's Buried Treasure episode 10: Cool episode. I liked the ruins puzzle, though it was stupid how Juugo just cheated it by.. running very fast and getting very lucky. the interactions between the ninja guy and the trap maid were absolutely hilarious, he's dirty and depraved and doesn't even care that the maid is a straight guy, it was funny to watch.
The fight scene was pretty cool, but it dragged on a little long for my liking. and the ending: seriously? if the villain already had that power then why didn't he use it earlier when he was losing like a peach?
Also whats with the girls backpack covered in blood with a hole through it? the girl didn't seem injured at all when they saw her, and looking at the layout of the ruins, there is no way she could have gotten back out of there alive so critically injured. So how the hell did she show back up at school? I'm so confused. she must have a Nanana's collection that allows her to go back in time/revive from the dead/heal all wounds or something stupid. because none of this is making any sense.
Mekakucity Actors: finally picked this show back up. I watched the first episode and didn't think it looked all that great, I liked the switch in protagonist from episode 2 to 4 though, and then the way the cast blooms out from there. I think SHAFT is trying too hard to make it funny and random sometimes though, with some short sequences that have no bearing on the plot or.. anything, and just seem to be in there.
