Kirito is supposed to teach Asuna about efficiency, since she's just mindlessly grinding on trash mobs with <Linear> instead of using normal attacks to finish off low HP monsters. Sword skills have a delay and take a lot of concentration, so if she just spams, she'll eventually die when she can't dodge.***Hidden content cannot be quoted.***
Kirito is supposed to lend Asuna the house he rented. She uses the bathroom to bathe I WAS VERY INTENT ON SEEING THIS SCENE. ***Hidden content cannot be quoted.***
Argo was completely left out of the story. She's an information broker, and the one who published the guides they were using. She's supposed to tell Kirito about a person offering to buy his upgraded sword, and she appears later in the story, although she's a very minor character. This gives some development to her beginnings. ***Hidden content cannot be quoted.***
I'm fairly sure the boss switched weapons at significantly higher HP. ***Hidden content cannot be quoted.***
One of the contributing factors to him taking the tag Beater is to ***Hidden content cannot be quoted.***

How I feel the episode should have gone:

Save Asuna, explains a bit of info, which helps the viewer understand more about the game. Action is shown in Asuna's combat against trash mobs. Honestly, First Day should have been episode 2 instead to do this. Share the cream with Asuna. See Argo at the meeting, and have her introduced there. Meeting could have been cut shorter. Episode ends right before boss encounter, maybe with Beta flashback. COCKTEASE.
Next episode would start the boss fight, with flashback to the rented house. Asuna bath scene <3. Argo comes with new offer on sword, explain about upgrades, and learn who wanted to buy sword. Diabel dies. Berserker the boss. Better animation since they can afford it with the number of dialogue scenes in ep 2. Everyone is happy.

Among other things, that was why I was disappointed. Given how badly they're rushing, this is likely to be 12 episodes and end chronologically before Fairy Dance.

What's everyone else's opinions?

Well, as I said in a previous post, "Aria in the Starless Night" is a story that's pretty dragged-out, so it's not possible to fit all of it into a single episode without making it seem rushed. I agree that they shouldn't have cut those important bits out though (an alternative would be making them OVA episodes so they can actually fit the important parts in without trouble since they wouldn't be limited by the timeslot).

I wouldn't say the bath scene was terribly important to the story...

Oh yeah, a minor detail but...wasn't the First Floor Boss Edition of Argo's Strategy Guide supposed to be pink with a large red disclaimer printed on the front cover?

EDIT: Just checked the LN again. Illfang's attack pattern switches at the 25% mark, but in the anime it switched around 15%.

This episode could have been done a whole lo better. What a waste. They should have just done the 2 year timeskip and left this for an OVA.

Oh nice. The next episode's Red-nosed Reindeer. I hope they don't screw that one up; it's REALLY REALLY important for Kirito's character development. I'll be so disappointed if they screw it up.

Sword Art Online 2: I want to read the novels now. It's really disappointing to see them rush when the first episode was so well paced. It feels like they could've done more with it.

Having read the relevant parts of the story, I definitely like Joe's idea. Argo was a pretty important character. With the anime, things just "happened" because they left out almost all of the motivations behind the characters. I like that they did this story first though, since Asuna's affection for Kirito seemed too sudden in Volume 1.

I just finished watching Moyashimon and Dog Days. I've been meaning to do it and having new seasons was a good incentive. Both were great.

Moyashimon Returns 1 &2: I was shocked with the sudden art style change. Nonetheless, it was awesome.

Dog Days' 1&2: Dear God, that OP. I don't like when they just use an apostrophe for the name of a second season. This was awesome as well, though. Rebecca's transformation was one of the best (and weirdest) I've seen. The animation since then until the end of the episode was amazing.

I watched So I Can't Play H or whatever they are translating that to, out of curiousity. Actually think I might keep watching it. That's two shows this season I'm opting to watch that have censor bars half the size of the screen!

Just watched Koi choco 2 as well, though it isn't as recent, PC was dead and all that. Again, terribly huge censor bars, but still gonna watch just to see what happens next.

I found the episode to be slightly rushed for the most part, but the pacing of the last segment was pretty good. I cried more when I read the LN though. :/

I think this episode was quite well done though. Argo was a bit random seeing as how she wasn't introduced in the second episode, therefore, if you didn't read the LN you wouldn't know who she was or what she was doing, or any significance to her character. Looking forward to some KiritoxAsuna shenanigans though. Wonder if they'll do Murder in the Area at all though. Might be a bit too dialogue/conversation/mystery driven for this show though, and it is kinda lengthy if you want all the details since it's a mystery. Maybe OVA material...

K-ON! Movie: As expected. Liked the songs. Terrible Engrish vs The Queen's English. loled and cringed every time.

Binbougami ga! 03: What. That tree lever bullpomegranate was wow. I was expecting it to make a bridge but damn that's just... Hanazawa Kana is amazing.

Kono Naka ni Hitori Imouto ga Iru 03: herpderp. I'm guessing they're going to play it off as she's pissed because she doesn't want some pervert siscon papayagot in her bathroom. Was entertaining how they thought he was gay though. I'm hoping the twist that they're all his sisters. The phone was the same model as Konoe's though, and the caller gave him the toy, which implies that either Miyabi would have the same phone or she didn't give him the toy.

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate 03: The ending with himxteacher was weird and unexpected. Confused. Not sure if want. Hoping for Chisato end though.

Accel World 15: I'm expecting Calamity Armor to pineapple up Noumi. This show pisses me off though. Haruyuki is so unlikable.

Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere S2 02: I still don't know what this show is about. But it's apparently about naked Fukuyama Jun. What I enjoy the most about this show actually is when Sawashiro Miyuki and Kobayashi Yuu talk to each other. It's fantastic eargasms.

The LN goes a lot into how he's super apathetic about everything else and it doesn't matter if he dies because it would be a punishment for what he did. It's also done as a flash back and has several references to this event throughout the first volume, to further emphasize how much he regrets what he did and how it tortures him, which this doesn't portray well. Well, at least Kirito mentions that she's an information broker...and she hints at being a beta tester. That's really all the viewers need to know.

Woohoo, Black Swordsman next. I'd rather they get on with the main story already...though I suppose it's important to introduce Scillica if they're planning to animate the Mother's Rosario arc since she's playing ALO in that arc (obviously, this also means that they'll have to animate the Fairy Dance and Phantom Bullet arcs so there won't be massive plot holes).

EDIT: Just checked Wikipedia. If it isn't some kind of troll attempt by the guy who edited the page, episode 5 will be "A Murder Case in the Area". No idea how the pineapple they're gonna cram the whole thing into one episode; it's probably gonna be as rushed as episode pineappleing two.

Tari Tary ep.2-3: That vice principle lady really needs to get that pole out of her ass, it can't be healthy to leave it so far up there. Loving the other characters though. Biggrin

Sword Art Online ep.2-3: Really loving this so far. It's like .//hack but better! Also, I'm not seeing too much of a problem with the pace like others are, but that's probably because I haven't read the novels yet. I'll get to it after the show's finished.

Kokoro Connect ep.2-3: Loving the characters and their reactions to the situation. That bit in the park during episode three was priceless!

Dakara Boku wa H ga Dekinai ep.2-3: I actually prefer the manga adaptation to the anime. The manga was paced better and had a much better transition between scenes, plus the manga explained what Lisara needed a "special person" for and Ryosuke's lost sex drive was a lot more apparent. I might end up dropping this if the manga starts getting scanlated faster.
