One Piece thread (Spoilers) - Smooth Criminal - 2011-11-23

I don't know. I think Luffy could have still kept on going based on willpower alone. It's only when he realizes that he has to stop that he collapses because he realizes his job is done.

One Piece thread (Spoilers) - Raph589 - 2011-11-23

What happened of the "Luffy is gonna destroy FI prophecy"?

One Piece thread (Spoilers) - CommanderJinn - 2011-11-23

He did it metaphorically.

One Piece thread (Spoilers) - OB3LISK - 2011-11-24

He still might who knows.

Was kind of gay ending. Off screen calling of sea kings.. Still waiting to see more of what noahs prophecy is.

She misread the future. She saw him attacking a place underwater and destroying it, except it was the boat, not fishman island.

Which is quite possible, isn't he supposed to be the current captain of the sun pirates? (Not that we've seen them at all in the present time...)

Edit: Nevermind, one piece wikia says they were disbanded. Ok, I guess Jinbei could join the straw hats.

One Piece thread (Spoilers) - KhainiWest - 2011-11-30

One Piece thread (Spoilers) - Lozmaster - 2011-11-30

I can think of a couple of ways jinbei could be useful on a ship. Obviously he makes fishing much easier, plus they have 4 devil fruit users who can't swim (though only 3 of them would be stupid enough to fall in the water, i.e., robin wouldn't).

But yeah, he doesn't actually need a proper ship-job, zoros kinda the first mate/vice captain at best, he doesn't really do anything, and robins really doesn't do much helpful either in any of the traditional crew member positions (not to downplay her importance of being able to read ponyglyphs)

One Piece thread (Spoilers) - Worthyness - 2011-11-30

He hasn't said yes yet and there are nakama that aren't on the ship too. I'm hoping Jinbei says something along the lines of "I've already had my journey; go out and find yours". I kinda want a fishman to join his crew, but I don't know who would beyond Jinbei >.>

One Piece thread (Spoilers) - CommanderJinn - 2011-11-30

It's kinda funny that Luffy has befriended 4 kingdoms... Wouldn't be surprised to see an epic world war by the end of the series.

One Piece thread (Spoilers) - Smooth Criminal - 2011-12-01

Jinbei would be a pretty capable helmsman. He was doing a pretty damn fine job when he was steering the boat to Marineford. Sanji is already the one who pretty much saves all the DF users when they land into the water, it would be rather really lame if he basically became the ship's lifeguard. And to be fair, is there really anyone else on Fishman Island worth recruiting? In my opinion, it's either Jinbei or nothing. Jinbei has no reason to stay on Fishman Island since he's a wanted man and could easily invite harm to the island just by being there, so I hope none of you guys are thinking, "He's gonna stay and protect the island, duh," to explain why he wouldn't join.

I just highly doubt that it's even possible for Shirahoshi to join, but luckily, no one here is insisting that it should happen. Her character didn't become that much more multi-faceted as the arc went on and really isn't that capable of doing anything. An important ally later? Maybe. I'm a believer in the theory that there will still be story after he finds One Piece and probably some sort of massive war, where possibly all of Luffy's allies return. So you've got Alabasta, Boa and her Yuda-drawn ship, and now you've got a friggin' massive tanker pulled by the craziest Sea Kings ever lead by a gigantic mermaid. Just the thought of her leading that ship later in the series is cool enough for me. She's just not capable, though, of making it into a real one-on-one fighter and you guys have to admit that playing a water assist role is kind of lame for a crew member.

Good chapter, though. Lots of lore and stuff happens while the crew was fighting (Caribou in the castle). The Voice of All Things, Noah, Urashima's Box among the castle's treasures, and more. Any guesses on Caribou? I believe that he might have limited space in his swamp's supposed "hammerspace" and realized that there was more profit in the treasure (Urashima's Box included, and for those of you who don't recall, it's what Decken wanted to use to age Shirahoshi). I just wonder where the heck he is now.

I dunno, that logic too is kinda flawed, as the island is protected by an outlaw as well in the form of Big Mam and before that White Bear. So FI would have never had any trouble with the Marines and the World Government anyway.

While it's true that she can't really do anything, Jinbei's character hasn't really developed much either. He's noble and overly serious, and that's what we've understood him to be ever since Impel Down.

Don't really have an issue here, just want to mention you forgot about Drum Island and Skypea

Hachi!

Jinbei is obviously going to join the ship though. No one managed to say "No" to Luffy yet.

One Piece thread (Spoilers) - Kabanaw - 2011-12-02

Why does someone have to join on FI? We've had arcs where nobody has joined yet.

Also, you have to remember that Jinbei has a will to rival Luffy's - if anyone could say no to Luffy, it's him.

Plus didn't someone in this thread already post that Oda said Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji will always be the three strongest in the crew? Pretty sure Jinbei is around their level of strength.

And my main reason why I don't want Jinbei to stay in the story: HE. IS. BORING. What about him makes him a good character? Maybe from a practical standpoint it makes sense, but since when has one piece been awesome because of its practicality? He doesn't have a unique fighting style, unlike every other member who is the only person in the world who fights like that. Jinbei may be a master of Fishman Karate, but there are still n fishmen that can do what he does. Also, I don't think his facial structure allows him to smile.

One Piece thread (Spoilers) - KhainiWest - 2011-12-02

10 members are expected and jinbe isn't as strong as zorro or sanji atm imo. Plus his role isn't strength it's the relationship of fishman and human. It breaks the discrimnated bounds.
