this is just too much. how do you come in years after the point and change a game so dramatically. i've never seen anything like this done before to such a degree.
they might as well just make a friggin new game, seriously... yeah % attribute items are strong, so i understand some of the nerfing... but you also have to use NX to get the pineappleing scrolls. no one is going to spend time fighting over the scrolls from boss drops. everyone is going to have to save up for nx to get good "new" items. plus, theres so many dimensions to an item that its ridiculous with the new system. grading jewels, makering, regular scrolls, potential scrolling, strengthening scrolling... its pineappleing ri-dic-u-lous.
what we dont know and if this all plays out for good or bad aside; i REALLY dont know how you change a game this much and somehow keep older players from not bailing (im already imaging NX resets for older chars. well maybe not, but you have to wonder lol). i guess though, that dosent matter. reinvent the game, pick up traffic for new players. old players maybe don't spend as much nx, and hell... the ones who stick around for this and will just spend more time (money) on the game.
when i read that interview about maplestory 2 showing up next year, i was thinking a new pineappleing game... not just a complete amnesia of what the current game was once upon a time. seriously...
.... it does seem kinda like a nexon idea though. why spend the time, imagination (lol) or money making a whole new game when you can just take the original that you've milked to death and reimagine it so you can re: milk it alllll over again. its even less riskier since, now you can potentially hold onto your older players and make them spend even more money normalizing to a new game which sits in a familiar, at least visually, setting. between this and item whoring (cash shops), what great ideas and concepts nexon has brought the gaming industry to use for their own money making possibilities.
i've never really thought of having my mmo's play experience be like a board game you could just flip over, dump all pieces out so they now mean nothing... and start over. usually consistency and value of what you spend your time building in a mmorpg, matter...
between this and seeing how completely whacked out most of nexons employees really are at e3... im just... :poast:
I'm actually quite satisfied with these changes. I mean before, a loooooooong time ago, training and leveling was boring. Very boring. It felt like a chore. Now, it'll be completely different.
I won't have an opinion until the changes are officially released because I know there's going to be lots of changes still as they keep testing it. But I am soooooooooooooooooo happy about Shadow Resistance skill increasing our base HP by 10%. I hope that skill doesn't get nerfed, I wouldn't mind if they improve it more though. :P
I'm a but curious if they will take all the HP we got from the old HP Increase away, or if we will just get to keep it in addition to the new 20%.
Well lets just say that HP is much higher in general. Almost at 4k HP at level 4x on a fighter.
They probably won't. We don't know what the 20% refers to either.
My optimistic view:
They will let us keep our current HP, bake the HP ability into our HP gain per level (warriors gain 65 HP and Brawlers gain 55 HP per level from the get go), and simply give us the +20% HP ability, in essence making warriors and brawlers true meatshields of the game. Undoing the HP gains of each character is probably going to be too messy. Here's the problem:
Warriors: ~25 HP per level without the HP ability, which brings it up to ~65
Brawlers: ~25 HP per level without the HP ability, which brings it up to ~55
65/25 = 260%
55/25 = 220%
If they were to take away all the bonus HP we got from our levels they'd have to make the new HP ability give more than 200% bonus HP to make up for it. +20% of our current HP without the HP boost ability won't even give us that much more HP than a ranged DPS. Take them Thieves:
~3.2k HP at 120
120% of 3.2k = 3840
Now imagine a 120 warrior with 3.8k HP.
Hahahaha, no. We'd be destroyed and be the most fragile melee ever.
What does KOR mean? O-o
any idea when we will get the new extraction data and stuff from the recent patch?
Holy god, Paladins literally became invincible, or so it seems. Defensive Warrior class has now come true.
Interesting...

From the looks of this picture, the new damage cap is 999K. Hello, 1m damage for snipe?
Also, is Brave slash any slower than Brandish was?
If base HP has increased in general, I wonder what that means for preexisting characters. Are our mains screwed? Will they get the HP increase they should have got with the new system? Or does this new base increase work differently (coming from a level up hp increase like warriors have it as a swordsman)?
One thing I don't want is for Nexon to just set all of our HP's to what they think it should be at our level, especially for those who spent tons of NX on AP Resets to wash. If they're going to give us all an increase in HP, they need to do it right and just raise all preexisting characters by percentage, not just set it to what they think a level 190 character should be. "Oh all level 190 Archers are suppose to have 7k HP" That would be pineappleing stupid.
