The print quality is pretty flawless as well.

When you sign up for your account, I don't uncheck the "Receive notices for discounts" etc option. Did you do that?

Did you end up using your $1 credits or did you just shell out $1 for each? Is there any way to actually make this "free" instead of "$1 up front and then 'free' after useless store credit"?

I shelled out $1 for each. No, you cant use your credit and the number together, the number is only for new users.
