Lol sattelite, it's a shame you don't realize how the IRON KNEE loves your balls. You spread more ridiculous slander than any bible thumper I know.

Works for me. I would prefer a neutral leader rather than one with a bias.

There will always be "bias" when it comes to a decision.

Let me rephrase, I would rather I have a religious leader to make sure people's wellbeing are taken into consideration, because just like all christians will try to force religion into every decision they make atheists will totally disregard all morals.

“Now, therefore, I, Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, under the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Statutes of the State of Texas, do hereby proclaim the three-day period from Friday, April 22, 2011, to Sunday, April 24, 2011, as Days of Prayer for Rain in the State of Texas.”

“I think it’s time for us to just hand it over to God, and say, ‘God: You’re going to have to fix this...”

Rick Perry has some black spots on his track record when it comes to objective decision making. Then again so do most of the other Republican candidates for issues other than religious fervor. Romney has escaped with not too many bruises from the internal slander.

I can't help but point out the insanely high level of irony in this quote.

On the topic at hand though, I myself wouldn't care much for what kind of religion my president is into, as long as he makes rational decisions and has the kind of values I find important. I'm an atheist and not even from the states so I guess that might influence my opinion somewhat.

There are some religious leaders that will try to pull crap like that, but then there are probably atheists that would fit the stereotype I gave. It's just, you know, there are a lot of people in the US that like this kind of leader since they share the same views.

People in general are idiots, then try to rationalize it saying a certain group causes it. I see no problem of people praying for rain because what else can you do? Weather machine? Come on, the things people complain about are so petty it isn't even worthy of discussion. Now if a guy comes in saying that "god believes in purging the non believers" then that's more like Hitler, although the generalizations are different.

There are nut jobs on both sides of the fence, the more intelligent tend to not give a pomegranate and move on.

Since this study was actually pretty small in scope, i'm inclined to note that as a significant point of consideration. Nonetheless, as was pointed out earlier in the thread, it makes absolute sense for a majority population in an area to want someone in a position of power that reflects their views. There's nothing wrong with that. That's not even news, that's pure obviousness.

Your reply wasn't very social or considerate by my standards and you reminded me very much of a wannabe know-it-all (I'm probably reminding you of one too right now, but whatever)

Doesn't Asimov have a story like that?
Of course, his robots are ruled by the 3 Laws...

Providing adjectives that, although are subjective, accurate based on his response isn't inconsiderate, more like stating the obvious.

Who really cares, everyone made a decision based on emotions or religious things, because of that we are humans, if we didn't had emotions we would be robots or something like that and remember there are different groups of Christianity and that change the moral views of that people, Atheist have different moral views too because they create one based on their life experiences and i can't talk about Muslims but as far as i see so far they are nice people, so stop judging people and just judge individuals after you met them, not because you think you know that kind of people or that person.

You need to calm down with this whole religion hatred thing. It's totally fine for them to believe whatever they want. People are going to kill others based on their beliefs regardless of what they are, religion isn't any exception. Just accept it and move on. Just do what I do, completely disregard anything in life that you don't agree with; makes things much more stress-free if you have a dissenting opinion from the majority.
CrazyForDex Wrote:I'd prefer if the President was athiest, then maybe I wouldn't have to worry about their policies coming from religious ideologies.
I would prefer the president to be good. Radical atheists have just as many bad ideas as religious fanatics do. If they were the majority, they would do the exact same things as religions have done throughout history in the name of the greater good. It's funny how mob mentality works; the more people that support something, the less sane their solutions become.

Americans don't want an atheist president - CrazyForDex - 2011-11-08

I guess I need to clarify what I meant. I would like an athiest President that isn't a nutcase... or really any President that isn't a nutcase. Radicalism doesn't really help us and I only said I wanted an athiest President because I am tired of us "pretending" that we have a separation of church and state when really it is more of facade. Religion is imbedded in much the United States pretty deeply, where people actually believe it over science and modern thought. We really live in a confused sad world. Also, I'm not saying that people have to believe in science, as everyone should have a choice of what they want to believe, but they should still be open to new ideas and should evaluate them themselves, rather than just taking the stance of "my religion is the answer, you are full of shi't."
