Don't worry about knowing Japanese unless you plan to go outside touristy areas. If you're white or black, the Asians will love you. If you're female, that's okay too.

If you're male and Asian, well.... No one will care about you at Akiba. (*‘ω‘ *)

There are some nice Western style ones as well in Tokyo that are about the same price. The 8-person rooms are bunk beds, too.

Lmao. Nah, they'll leave you stranded there. Big Grin

I would love to do this, but I don't see any opening for a trip like that in my schedule. I can't even find enough time to pay a visit to my parents and friends in Brazil. Having no vacations at all sucks hard.

This is probably the best thing i've heard in a while.

I would love to apply if possible. Biggrin

I don't think people would risk cancer even if flying to Japan is free.

Uh... There's about as much radiation in anywhere in Japan as there is in New York City, New York, USA. ._.

Besides, the Nuclear Power Plant was only in one small area of Japan. That's like saying California has earthquakes, so I had better not go to the United States or risk getting swallowed up by the Earth.

This x10000. All this radiation scare is really unnecessary. It's not like you're going to pop another arm if you stay there for a day.

No, but the two you have might fall off. Rolleyes

Isnt the cost of living there extremely high? I doubt I could afford it even with the free flights.

It's okay to go if you're avoiding the obvious areas right now. There are apps for FoodSafety and stuff in Japan.

If you know where to go, it's okay. Stay at backpackers or ryokan. A friend recommended me this when I was going to go. She also said the onee-san was purdy. (ノ´∀`*)

The biggest problem I've seen with people going to Japan is thinking they'll get the same amount of food for roughly the same price. If you shop and eat like a normal Japanese person, it isn't so bad. iirc there's no Costco in Tokyo and yes Costo cards are int'l.

The yen is just so high right now. At least the Metro, even with the current conversion rates, is about the same for me when I'm in Toronto, lol.

PS - Never take a taxi.

So it's settled we all go to Japan, during a culture festival, meet some people that we know, and go home happy and leave Justin behind to carry on the SP legacy. Sound good?

What does "the SP legacy" entail?

Fun fact, California is bigger than Japan, by about 46000 square kilometers. Might want to rethink your comparison.

Along with California having a totally different type of earthquake than Japan has.

But I understand his comparison regardless.

99% of Japan thinking we're kimoi.
