Maple PvP? - Mira - 2008-08-11 I would like PVP if: 1. There would be a designated area for PVP, and nowhere else. 2. You would not lose exp/money/items upon death (Maybe lose battle points?). 3. PVP was somehow fair between all classes. 4. A level limit on who can challenge you, and vise versa.
Maple PvP? - EtherealAsen - 2008-08-12 Kranzorbaken Wrote:PvP would be stupid as hell in ms IMO. Maybe to keep SP from being too connected to private dingleberries. I personally like the word filter. Pineapples and Dingleberries. Maple PvP? - Cardboardsnail - 2008-08-12 Hell no. Imagine all the complaining, huge egos, and general unbalances. Teleport + Poison mist? Also how the heck can a warrior hit a hermit with flash jump Maple PvP? - BMW - 2008-08-12 In my humble opinion it would be boring. Should there be a PvP, I see it as two sides with obstacles and each player having 1,000,000 or so HP. Tactics would be so dull it would only be jumping around obstacles and pressing your one attack button. There could be more to my idea, but I'm just thinking basics now. Maple PvP? - JezzaRules - 2008-08-12 I do want the idea of PvP but then I reckon some classes would be inferior compared to others like magicians for example, they'd die too easily whereas warriors have a very unlikely chance to die (unless they're lagging bad or they're nub). So in short PvP would be cheap for some classes but however despite this, I do want PvP in maplestory. Maple PvP? - EndlessAxis - 2008-08-12 I personaly would like to see it but it just wouldn't work in ms..sorri Maple PvP? - GMSInfighter - 2008-08-12 I tried it *cough*, It's really not that fun :| It's not what you guys are expecting it to be. Maple PvP? - Gearfree - 2008-08-12 GMSInfighter Wrote:I tried it *cough*, It's really not that fun :| I think the discussion was about if a "real" PvP system was created. It sounds interesting, but there are potential problems. You got area damage skills such as the ultimates, teleport, flashjump, panic and a few other skills that would make the competition unfair. It would be funny though to see a marksman fight off against a de-ultimated mage. Frozed by frostprey, it would leave too much time for the mm to charge pierce fully. The MM releases said arrow, instantly killing the mage, but setting off a disconnect via the damage cap. Who wins? Its kinda what makes Maple what it is, IMO. PVP would change the direction of the game greatly. I'm sorry this is a bit off topic but it was just too good a spot to get something off my chest. They editted the Yakuza enemies but 1 or 2 patches later they add a competition where you can drop bombs on one another. That doesn't make much sense ![]() .

That doesn't make much sense Cartoon violence man, as they were edited to monsters rather then people that makes it ok oddly enough. You also don't show any long term after affects other then being disoriented/confused. Seeing as they happen to be a cliche of a weapon("Those classic round ones with the little fuse, oh yeah") couldn't have hurt either. Maple PvP? - Migrant - 2008-08-12 As I said on z3 Roses, if you want PvP go back to Runescape. Maple PvP? - Afrobean - 2008-08-12 I made a detailed post one time about the only way true PvP would work in a fair and Maple-y way. Don't feel like replicating it in its entireity, so I'll keep it short. Jump quest style map, no mobility buffs allowed and a large map with lots of platforms and things around. Fighting would be done by throwing snowballs (by using a common class untradeable "claw" and special snowball "stars") or paintball gun. Ammo would be limited, but would be obtainable in some way inside of the map, such as from boxes or something. All classes would play exactly the same, so class balance would not be an issue. Different modes would allow for different settings, such as 1 hit kills, or teams, or even maybe something like capture the flag. But I digress. The point is that real fighting wouldn't be Maple-y, and that class balance would be literally entirely impossible. Something like I just described is the only way to actually FIGHT someone else while maintaining the Maple way and also keeping things fair. Notice that this would also close level gaps, because a level 1 Beginner would be just as inherently effective as a 200 Hero. Maple PvP? - Hazzy - 2008-08-12 EtherealAsen Wrote:I don't think Maple Story was really made with player versus player in mind. Well, balancing the classes would take those skills into consideration. The more mobile classes would hit less, while the stationary would hit more. Retalion Wrote:I'd say just leave the PVP to the private servers. Yep, this'll never happen. Dx Quantact Wrote:Who needs PvP when we have KSing? o_o PvP maps by level? xP By inventation(sp?)? Like card games. You choose who you do and do not fight. xP Afrobean Wrote:I made a detailed post one time about the only way true PvP would work in a fair and Maple-y way. Do you by chance have a link to your detailed post? I like your idea. xP If it's painball, it might make it past Nexon's Anti-Violence censor that the Music/Archer dude described. *Can't remember his name. T_T* Maple PvP? - Afrobean - 2008-08-12 I actually ended up touching on all major points of it. In fact, I don't think my post at sleepywood even has any more detail to it. Here it is: http://sleepywood.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1455870 Quote:Maple PvPs can work! Here's how: One thing I am realizing now: minimap should probably be disabled. and to elaborate a little: in the post from Sleepywood I mention boxes giving buffs, this would be things like boosted speed or jump or something, maybe heal or slow casting for your opponent. Maybe just take the buffs that they use in Ariant Colosseum and stuff. ps oh pomegranate I just realized something. If you're playing, say, 3 hits to lose, you'll still lose basically instantly. So probably should have a HEAVY delay on repeated attacks. Maybe have it so that you can't carry enough ammo at once to do someone in at once. If you go the snowball fight route instead of paintball, this would even have a logical reason-- how many snowballs can you hold at once while trying to fight? Most/all combat games have a radar though. Maybe instead of a mini map they put a flatter map that doesn't show the characters jumping but still show their general position. The maps would have to be huge though or else a radar would be stupid anyway. Maple PvP? - EtherealAsen - 2008-08-12 Takebacker Wrote:Most/all combat games have a radar though. Imagine if there were shielded covers. Imagine walls you could hide yourself partially behind. Imagine barriers that could shield you from getting hit, but at the same time, make it so that you cannot attack out of your little "fortress" as well. |
