Not really. :/

I have somewhere between 20 and 30 AP in HP, all except 5 is washed back to LUK, and I still need hp gear to go to HT at 164.

HP gain is utterly random, and I calculated that without washing I would've had to wait until around 180-185 to HT.

On another note, myself and others have observed that when you wear HP gear (lacking defense?), you can take over 7.7k damage (my friend saw himself take 7856 once).

And for those who don't already know: once the wings are downed (and the buffs they give the heads fade), along with the tail and feet, the max damage you take from magic is ~5.6k, unless it's a 1/1 attack.

And finally to confirm, it is indeed 1 MP for every 10 INT with gear you wear upon leveling, I've tested this numerous times and it always works out. This means to be able to wash 1 AP into HP every level-up, you need a 120 INT total (100 or 110 is also possible if you get lucky with MP gain).

You are of no use at Horntail if you are not level 160+.

Personally, I started HP Washing at ~16x. I wear a HP Zakum Helmet, HP Earrings, top and bottom. 4770 base HP is more than enough.

I (having no experience on this matter) would say that once you're 14x-15x, just pump HP until you have enough to survive, and wash the points out later when you can. Simpler than worrying about all this INT and equip crap.
