My ex's brother dated his cousin's daughter... I think.... Yea that's it. That relationship was disturbing. They had kids. Broke up. Now the family is tore apart and the kids are tore apart.
I have no clue until my ex's mom told me that they were related. Apparently they weren't the first in the family and maybe that's why my ex and I didn't work. We weren't related.

As for true incest, I honestly don't know what I think about it. While I understand that the taboo is simply socially/religously enforced, I also see why it is a bad idea, in the same sense that it is a bad idea to sleep with your co-workers/boss (for military enlisted/officer are not allowed to truly mingle except in rare situations, let alone sleep with each other), etc - the possible break-ups can create severe strife and destroy extremely strong bonds and make everyone around you awkward.

Step relatives wouldnt count. Incest is normally seen as blood relations. Step-brothers/sisters, if around the right age, will most likely end up "trying" something. Hell, theyve even had movies where a mother and daughter fall in love with father and son, so its not really frowned upon.

I can understand the genetic argument but the Phychological trauma just does not make sense. The whole taboo over incest is cultural, if the kid raised in an environment that supports and or tolerates incest they won't have any problems about it.
I find Incest disgusting because my family and church told me it was wrong, but logically I know its not wrong, except when you have children.
If a brother and sister, cousin and cousin, or aunt and nephew are attracter to each other, who are we to care?

It happens back home on the reservation from time to time due to the fact that most American Indians don't want to create a family with people of a different skin color off the tribe or they don't want to leave home. Ever.
And so one's sister, cousin, mother, aunt or whatever is the next best option.
Even in my family there are a couple members that have those kind of relationships going on. Hell, on paper, my Mom and Dad are related thanks to the massive interconnecting blood lines that is being apart of a Native American tribe.
Personally, if all parties are happy, there is no abuse going on and if the rules are clear I see no real massive problem with it.

Inbreeding is the only way to get a golden chocobo, as per vgcats.
The only thing I see wrong with it is that inbreeding will cause certain traits to come about, maybe be good, or usually is bad.
