Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
Velskud technically is a cold hero, but that really only comes out more in the future. His story is basically like Riku's from Kingdom Hearts if that makes it any clearer, or Sesshomaru from Inuyasha.
In the meantime he is still seen as evil because of his suspicious and dangerous plans that people can't see what he's really up to. Only the Academic got to see more of the ''softer'' side in her storyline; to everybody else he was still an evil person as they didn't see any of what he was really up to. What everybody sees is him trying to obtain evil powers for himself by hunting down the Black Dragon's energy as well as stealing the maiden.

- 92% discount coupons for 30 slot inventory and storage (reducing their price to 1.1k or something)
- Free enhanced +10 Manticore weapons (all primary and offhands for your basic class) at Lv. 40.
However, you won't recieve a Scroll of Unlearning at Lv. 40 anymore. That was moved to Lv. 50, and we all know how it glitches when you learn any 3rd specialization skills beforehand.
Bunny ear/tail is not perma and I got mine at level 2 if I'm not mistaken.
The discount coupons are given twice and it's 1.1k for inventory and 500 for storage (after discount)
Scroll of Unlearning (All) is given at level 30 as well
Also, you are given a free pet at level 2 so that's nice too. I bought a Pet Alicorn and am waiting for my pet to expire next week.
These are just things I've noticed raising my new ele (Level 32) regarding these free boxes.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
Is there a penalty for over leveling without getting your 3rd specialization?

You can't continue the main questline after a certain point. Nothing else beyond that.
If you're worried about the reset scrolls, they will still work if you take a 3rd specialization but not learn any of the new 3rd specialization skills. That's what I did for my Saint to continue the main questline while still having the Lv. 50 scroll work.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
Quick question:
Which one of the classes would be one of the easiest to start with? I know magic attack users are (apparently) a little harder to start with, but I was just interested in some opinions.

I am a bit biased on this seeing as I've only played 4 classes, but from my experience magic users are much harder than physical classes. My Elementalist that I am working on right now has a hell of a time running Masters/Abyss dungeons at the level 32-40 range even though she's level 44. My physical classes have few problems seeing as I'm more used to them and they have higher SA break.
From my experience, Mercenary (Warrior base class) is easy for their buff that gives them unbreakable SA (they get a second buff that does the same for the party if I remember correctly) and their high SA break. Swordsman is also pretty decent but they're a bit more squishy than Mercenaries. Engineers (Tinkerer base class) are also pretty decent. I main one myself and have few problems dungeon-wise -- Nests are another story.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
I have a fair amount of experience playing as every class in the game (blame us having 40 cap for 10 months), and I'd recommend one of the below classes for a beginner (out of a total of 10):
Priest: Cleric subclass. Low damage in the earlier stages, but can easily wipe out mobs with massive AoE later on. His buffs are welcomed in any party, and heals are quite powerful now. Since he's a Cleric subclass, he actually has some of the highest HP of every class in the game, but has almost no mobility and long casting animations/low superarmor.
Engineer: Tinkerer subclass. Current highest physical DPS in the game. They can summon robotic allies to overwhelm enemies, and fight at range with their cannon skills. They are glass cannons, but they have skills that allow them to move faster or quickly escape a hairy situation. Note that if you choose to play as an Engineer, her story will assume that you've already played as a Cleric, Archer, Warrior, or Sorceress up to at least Level 40 beforehand. If the story is something you care about, the Engineer probably isn't the beginner class for you.
Elementalist: Sorceress subclass. Current highest magical DPS in the game. They focus on fire skills for DPS and ice skills for mob control. Note that the freeze status effect increases the amount of damage the target takes while frozen, and works on almost everything in the game, including major bosses. They are about as much of a glass cannon as Engineers are, but their skills are designed for close range combat.
Mercenary: Warrior subclass. Has a great mix of mobility, physical damage, and support. Many of his attacks can easily interrupt enemy attacks (or at least his attacks won't be interrupted). However, his skills have rather high cooldowns compared to most others. That's really the only thing I can come up with as a downside.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
I logged on my swordsman today and look at my gear and was all like :f4:
I'm still using gear i got for myself when the cap was still 24. BUT i did get myself some level 50 stuff for motivation to level!

Not sure how fast alchemist trains compared to engineer but I stacked quests and it took me about 4-5 dungeons to level up all the way to 40 for each level [more or less]. You can easily get 6~9 quests for a single dungeon during those levels and get a ton of exp.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
What server does everyone play on? I literally picked this up 3 days ago and hit 40 today, then logged off because the servers were lagging so badly (45-60s reaction time from in-town NPCs was amusing).
I'm on Elena, playing as an Engineer atm. Skill build is wack because I have no idea what I'm doing and I already blew my two resets (1st from level 15, 2nd from level 30 reward box). Do you get another one at 50? :r I really don't want all this SP into random Tinkerer pomegranate that I don't need.

Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
Ohhh, that's probably why they're so bloody laggy then. Thanks for the info, will try to hook up with my friends now.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
I main an engineer at the moment. Here's my build if you want to look at it:

If you wish to go Gear Master, you'd just put more points in Quackum Crash and drop other skills accordingly. Some these skills are preference, such as me liking alfredo being able to do more damage, although I would like to get Quack Patrol for that nice silence for stuff like PvP.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
Wonder when DN NA will get the level 60 cap. I'm messing around on the skill builder you linked to and I've got an okay build going, but I'm going to need level 60 :(
I pretty much exclusively (solo, for now) PvE for the most part, so I think this will be okay:
http://dnarmory.com/skill-calc?i=5-4....Cx8Hrz3jdQStr
I'll end up maxing whatever is unmaxed due to level restrictions with the saved points.
At 60:
http://dnarmory.com/skill-calc?i=5-4...n2Y.W5VVb6E.Q-
I have issues with too many cooldown-based skills (too much maplestory) and it makes me just roll my hands all over my keyboard like an idiot, so keeping just a few core skills maxed out is going to be my best bet I think.

ASSUMING shooting star build is similar to gear master build (i don't know for sure), these are the things wrong in your 50 build I see (for PvE build)
- Maxed napalm, should be level 1
- Level 1 slip n slide, needs to be maxed
- Level 4 roto-whirl, needs to be maxed
- No points in MP or MP Recov, needs to be maxed
- Maxed gravity grenade, should be level 1
- Quackum crash treeline left empty, should be bare minimum at the very least
- Flash bang level 1, solely a PvP skill, should drop to 0 for PvE
- Make it Rain level 1, should be maxed
- Chemical warfare level 4, unsure
- Alfredo treeline, unsure
This site is probably the best english speaking site for DN information: http://forum.mmosite.com/thread/2/21...e96e813-1.html
Since DN had a massive revamp sometime in the past 8 months [idk when exactly since i quit at that time] a lot of builds that weren't updated aren't on the main guide list now. You can search around and find them to get an idea of what to build or you can try nexon forums for information.
As for 60 cap, it took like 10 months or something ridiculous to get 50 cap so don't hold your breath. The game grows really really stale after a while because the game does not update quick enough. Honestly over the past 8 months where I stopped playing, nothing really "new" got updated that was worthwhile.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
Finished both 5/2 and 4/3 of my Totem/Corrupt Set.
Damn at the damage increase on the 4/3 Set.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
I did a 5/2 corrupt/totem. With the new armors my phys is so close to breaking 5k :f4: I just need to finish 2 more crafts (powerglove and top) and I'll be done crafting. Then comes the joyous enhancing...
