Bleach Manga thread (SPOILERS) - KhainiWest - 2011-07-22 SolicShooter Wrote:I've never seen dragonball, but to me he's like the shikamaru from naruto of bleach. He actually uses strategy and intellect in his battles, which is way more interesting to watch in my opinion. Shikamaru actually wins though, and he's a beast. All this quincy platypus does is run away with some sort of stun or distraction. I mean his entire premise was "Im the pride of the quincy even though I can't kill anything...", and that really went no where, hes the last of his race and he tries to act like a rebel, but his character just gets overshadowed by everyone else really. Bleach Manga thread (SPOILERS) - KhainiWest - 2011-07-22 Kabanaw Wrote:You mean like every other regular human being up until this arc? Well orihime, annoying as she is, at least has a crucial role, and chad actually help trained renji, so I think uryuu is pretty useless lol Well he's a hollow cleaner i guess Bleach Manga thread (SPOILERS) - SolicShooter - 2011-07-22 KhainiWest Wrote:Shikamaru actually wins though, and he's a beast. Losing battles can't be entertaining to see? Remember Shikamaru running away from hidan to lure him in his trap? Where does Shikamaru stand with the current power levels of Naruto? He's just like him. All you've said is I like Shikamaru, but I don't like uryuu so they're entirely differnt. He didn't lose them, he ran from them. Urruyu's battles werent even worth mentioning, one being Espada 10/0 and the other being of some artificial espada..Shikamaru actually has wit in his fights, using strat's with his shadow. Uryuu just shoots arrows and plays bluffs with a saber. Or "magically" runs around the opponent to make some super circle. Shikamaru only defeated the weakest of all akatsutsi, who could be beaten by most elite jounin to be honest. While I agree that Shikamaru uses more strategy you need to see this in the context of the series. It's my opinion that the degree of strategy is a lot higher in Naruto then bleach. Your last sentence could be applied to seriously every fighter in both series. Shikamaru just does stuff with shadows and throws kunai that's it. Bleach Manga thread (SPOILERS) - KhainiWest - 2011-07-22 SolicShooter Wrote:I'll say it again, losing battles can't be entertaining? Running away is not losing. Losing is when they are on the verge of death. Uruyuu fights battles just to distract them. He's a meat puppet. SolicShooter Wrote:Shikamaru only defeated the weakest of all akatsutsi, who could be beaten by most elite jounin to be honest. He beat him using a plan, that actually worked. Uryuu plans are only temporary, shik gets the job done, the end. Having two immortal warriors, one who just needs a drop of your blood to kill you, is certaintly not easy to beat. Shikamaru just does stuff with shadows and throws kunai that's it. The hell does uryuu do besides 3 things? Shikamaru's technique is at a constant change as it relies on sunlight. Uruyuu just spams arrows, when that doesn't work, he tries to use a sword that's essentially the same thing. And if that doesn't work he has to set up this ridiculous "nuke" that doesn't even do all that much damage. And he usually looses them, and if he doesn't lose them, he barely wins them while being slightly alive. Uruyuu's cool and all, but his fights are boring, and he has no real significant abilities. Sort of like Ichigo right now. But like I posted before, if it's true that Bleach is in the bottom row of Jump Manga on their rankings, I wouldn't be surprised if it went on the chopping block and got cancelled. Bleach Manga thread (SPOILERS) - Secun - 2011-07-23 I'm still of the opinion that Bleach should've ended after Aizen, but eh. And Uryuu is really a letdown, neh. The only time he actually got any work done was when he lost his powers fighting Kurotsuchi. Bleach Manga thread (SPOILERS) - KhainiWest - 2011-07-23 I'm sorry solic but if you can't see the unfortunate difference that shikumaru's character being much more important than some guy who wields a spider web that shoots tac's, who everyone else has stated, barely win's if any matches, then I can't help you. Bleach Manga thread (SPOILERS) - Smooth Criminal - 2011-07-23 What I wish stayed consistent with Uryuu was that he'd maintain his relationship as a rival to Ichigo and that he'd always be second to Ichigo, but Ichigo would still always surpass him by far. Uryuu's power-ups, aside from the glove, have not been impressive; and unfortunately, it's almost as if he's fallen out of the main cast because Kubo has been favoring his own and the fan favorites. I also think it was possible that the strength of the Privada Espada wasn't very clear when held in context with how strong the Espada would get from each other when Kubo first introduced all of these characters, and that's one of the problems: the power levels in this series are all out of whack (seriously, look at how strong Barragan's fraccion are and compare that to the earlier Espada). Either way, Uryuu has been really unimpressive and deserves a bigger role in the story and to emerge as a strong member of the cast again. In fact, the original cast of main characters seems to have been largely discarded. We all know about Chad being a walking punching bag and Orohime's healing abilities are pretty much the only thing of value about her. It's a shame, really. I compared them on basis of both using strategy and wit to win their battles instead of brute force. What great thing has shikamaru done besides rendering the weakest of all akatsutsi who could be beaten by almost every elite jounin incapable of fighting? Uryuu was what Sasuke was to Naruto in the early days of bleach. You're right though that nowadays he's nothing compared to ichigo/aizen etc., but the same counts for shikamaru compared to madara/sasuke/raikage/naruto etc.. Umm I don't think Hidan was that weak considering how badly he fucked up Asuma. Although he was definitely not the best member of akatsuki, he was not the worst/weakest. Same with the member who has the 4 hearts (can't remember his name). As I recall, Shikamaru was one of the first shinobi in his class to reach Jounin and his mental abilities are invaluble to the Hidden Leaf. Comparing that to Uryuu who basically hasn't done jack-pomegranate in this manga (until possibly next week) besides throw in some input and tag along as Ichigo takes on the world, I really don't know why are you trying to say here. Sure, they both use their strategic abilities when fighting, but Shikamaru's intellect is on an entire other level from Uryuu and if you want to try and refuet that, I doubt you have been actually reading both the Naruto and Bleach mangas f3. Also, comparing Uryuu to Sasuke in simply the rival sense really disgusts me. Imo, Sasuke is literally the strongest force in Naruto besides Madara (and everything he comes with) whereas Uryuu is just a side character atm anyways. Btw, comparing either Uryuu or Shikamaru to Ichigo/Aizen or Naruto/Madara is a pretty terrible comparison and has little point. Obviously they will never be as strong as the main characters/main antagonist of the manga/major arcs, but the way I see it, I still feel that Shikamaru is much more useful than Uryuu because of his amazing intelligence, but then again neither has done much for the last 50~ chapters. And Asuma would be considered strong now, why? People like raikage would kill him (and hidan) in a second. If you can't actually tell me who's the weakest member then he's definitely the weakest member because I've nothing to argue against... Take your pick between Orochimaru, Sasori, Pain, Konan, Kisame, Kakazu, Itachi, Deidara and Tobi (I think that's all of them iirc). Shikamaru was indeed the first to reach chuunin, but a lot of the other rookies have already surpassed him with becoming jounin. Shikaku (his father) is the one who is leading all the war strategy currently and shikamaru has become a simple foot soldier in the war. I'm not denying that Shikamaru is definitely more skilled in using his mind for battle, but as I said earlier you've to see this in the context of the manga. Naruto, the manga deals with a lot more strategy then bleach does in my opinion. Therefor it's logical the kid who does the most with strategy in naruto is superior to the one in bleach. Uryuu literally was ichigo's rival in the early times of the manga. If that disgusts you then take it up with the writer not me. I'm simply pointing out the difference that neither one of them could stand up to the characters that we deal with today. Bleach Manga thread (SPOILERS) - Haseo - 2011-07-24 I feel sorry for Uryuu. The massive arrow fatality he did to Mayuri was his first and last moment of awesome, everything else he does pretty much screws himself over. I think Kubo intended Uryuu to be a rival to Ichigo like how Sasuke is to Naruto, but gave up halfway, opting instead for the overpowered main character plan. Shikamaru was indeed the first to reach chuunin, but a lot of the other rookies have already surpassed him with becoming jounin. Shikamaru's role in the story is 10x more important/relevent than uryu in bleach. In fact the entire premise of uryu is that he was some extinct race and he'll always hate ichigo for it cus he's a soul reaper. Truth be told he's only won one battle that was important to the story. The other two battles he won were more of gimme's to reflect his power, and his limitations. In fact it's more of a puffing of how much stronger ichigo was to him. Uryu was a character with a purpose that drifted off. Bleach Manga thread (SPOILERS) - Kabanaw - 2011-07-25 I like how were having this argument a chapter or two before it's likely that Ishida is about to be a big damn hero. I'm hoping for something more epic, like he incapacitates Orihime and Chad. Because let's be honest, this fight would have taken two or three pages if they weren't ichigo's friends. That's what I hate about the "friend fight-" it lengthens the fight without actually giving it more action. |
