No IRC or PMs (Unless the Scum would like to use this as their form of communication). From what I've seen they generally end up working out the same anyway, with a fair chance for all. Yeah, too bad there were too many idlers or people who kept silent on purpose this game. They're a nice idea, but unfortunately I feel they are crippling to the town unless you've got the time to figure out how much you can trust them and come up with a decent strategy that doesn't end up killing the group before it can effectively lynch the mafia. Limiting your strategy to either the mason group or wide open for all to see is not what I'd like to have to choose between. I think perhaps if there was some middle ground where you were limited to talking to small number of people through pms, but not a mason group, that might work out better. So for this size game, Everyone can talk to between 3-5 different people, but not all the same people. So you can coordinate with others, but it's not quite as open as irc. So for example, you could have the same person as someone else, thus if you wanted a larger strategy, you could pm the first person your idea, and have them pm it to the second person. Of course that does leave the mafia with room to exploit or change your message, but that'd just be another part of the game you'd have to take into account. I dunno, that may be overcomplicating things, but it's the only middle area I could really think of between Irc free for all and small mason groups. I thought the mason groups were ok, but I had members that were willing to respond, and went into IRC. Obviously, some people were inactive, crippling the active people in that mason group. I think that put them at an (unintended) disadvantage, which is the main problem with the system we're using currently. I don't think we should go back to the way we were before exactly, but we do need to change it a little. I do have some more to say on how the game could have been better (mainly directed at Ray), but I'll wait for it to end before I talk about that. We Don't Need No Theme Mafia - Game over, RED wins - TøbiasBlack - 2010-09-05 yeah, this really was a fun game of mafia. gotta say ray you designed this pretty well. for my first time i really enjoyed it; at first i thought this would be really convoluted and confusing but really it isnt. 'course i mostly just sat back and observed a lot of what was going on but still it was fun to be a part of. thanks. cant wait to play the next one (if someone organizes another. ._.) You'd have to ask Lord Xela that, not me. I won't have time to create another one until like, Christmas. We Don't Need No Theme Mafia - Game over, RED wins - Mephisto - 2010-09-06 I've been thinking about hosting one too. Though everybody's fall semester is starting right about now, which would make it hard... maybe we could co-host one CoB? We Don't Need No Theme Mafia - Game over, RED wins - y0y0y0y0shi0 - 2010-09-06 I've had one planned out for quite some time, but I'm not sure if I'm going to host it over at Mafiascum, depending on whether or not we can get someone to host one here. We Don't Need No Theme Mafia - Game over, RED wins - Five Second Pose - 2010-09-06 So all night actions are in. You all gathered around the square to see what transpired overnight. Meh, just because Daku roleblocked Darkmaniak doesn't mean he's actually a mafia killer. Nobody actually investigated him, and while BTA fingered him, BTA also accused LX, and he was wrong there. Seems likely he was lying about both if you ask me. We Don't Need No Theme Mafia - Game over, RED wins - Five Second Pose - 2010-09-06 I really don't want to do this, but because of school the deadline's now 6 PM EST today. Also, if anyone votes within the last five minutes, the deadline gets extended by ten minutes.
