It's much fairer than Maple in terms of cash shop items as well, where you really don't have to shell out money just to be decent. In fact, some of the more ''important'' items are tradeable.
The only problem now is that they changed it so at level cap your ''fatigue'' depletes rapidly, and they changed it so you have a very harsh decrease in drop-rates when this happens, meaning you can't farm nearly as well as you would've been able to normally. Once you've finished up your Nest runs for the week there is basically nothing to do at level cap.
I'm agreeing with your post more and more, the longer I play. In the beginning, I'd expected things to become impossible without NX, but it's still enjoyable at level 21. Feelin' a bit apprehensive, waiting for that rude awakening to come along, but it hasn't yet. Maybe it never will.
I hope Nexon doesn't screw this game like they did with Maplestory. Dragon Nest really does remind me of Maple before it went to hell. Pineappleing corporate greed, man...

it's probably gonna come when you want to trade high-level gear, and/or enhance it past +8

I have never "needed" NX up to this point. I have capped 3 characters and have one sitting at level 35. Of course if you want to max out inventory space and storage space, you need NX. Personally, I find that the level up gifts are enough for storage/inventory size, as well as the occasional event for storage slots. Upgrading items is free if you feel like saving for the geodes (spiral requires more effort, vortex almost none, but spiral is cheaper as a result and vortex more expensive). I only spent NX in April or May to buy a costume for my SM since it gives a set effect, and am contemplating buying one for my engineer which I will be using as a main now.

I know nothing about equipment enhancement (and I mean that in the most general way possible; as in, I don't know how to make my equipment better.), and I think I'm happier for it. As an Engineer, dungeons are easy as hell, anyway. :3
Oh, god. Are Engineers like ... are they like the Phantoms of this game? That is to say, are they the Overpowered Class of the Month?

That's very inspiring, actually. Gives me high hopes for this game.
inb4 the same slippery slope that happened with maplestory

you talk to the blacksmith, and sacrifice gems to increase your gear, they can go up to +6 without exploding, at which point they can explode at a 25% rate (iirc) if the enhancement fails, needless to say, the reward/risk ratio gets higher and higher, and there's an NX item that allows for your weapon to not explode up to +12(it's a massive cash vaccuum though) reason it's a cash vaccuum is because your equipment can lower enhancement levels if it fails, the epic ones can go down 3 ranks if you're unlucky.

Oh, that's actually quite interesting. I really had no idea. I've just been upgrading as I level, and selling the old ones.
I feel like there's a tutorial in this game that I totally missed out on. For the longest time, I just threw things away because I couldn't find the item shop NPC. Yesterday I accidentally stumbled across the storage dude for the first time. We get eight slots! That's ... I mean -- in maple, I only had four. This is excellent, indeed.
But yeah, thanks for cluing me in on that.

Unfortunately storage isn't account shared. Every character gets a separate storage, unless you get a guild, get every char in the guild, get the guild to level 7 (for storage if I'm not mistaken), and get them to all have access to said storage.
As for the enhancement, that's pretty much it. If you use spirals/vortexes, your chances of succeeding are 100% but they're a pain to get usually. You either extract pre-enhanced items and hope for a good one, or spend comet dusts on pots containing vortexes/spirals and hope for a useful one. Jellies can be bought from other players if you're willing to spend that money. Or you can use NX to buy them. I personally enhance epics to +6 without spirals/vortexes/jellies and then start using vortexes/spirals. Rares and Magic ranks are just tossed in until a +10 comes out or I am stuck with a +6, no money spent for them.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
Salvation of the West servers has reached the Sea Dragon!
As far as I know, we are one of only two groups in the West servers that has come face-to-face with the Dragon himself thus far, and the only to have reached the dragon without any deaths. I am honored to have fought alongside them all as the lead Priest of Salvation!
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
Gratz. I saw on dnarmory that the chests in SDN give manti stuff? If so, how often is it? As for the East server, reading the courier birds every so often, I saw a "Gratz _ Group on reaching Sea Dragon", so if that was true, we have at least one group that made it as far.
I haven't made much progress on my apoc armor today. Stuff hasn't been selling and I ran out of nest runs, so I can only farm reg dungeons for the gold to buy mats. 3/5 Internal Linings, 20/30 hearts, and 4/20 bows for the pants so far. Next is top probably or boots depending on mat availability.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
I'm pretty sure the chests in SDN don't drop Apoc or Manti gear, just regular epics. Out of the 5 runs we did so far, we haven't seen a single nest set epic drop.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
Oh well, that would kind of ruin the prices on nest epics if they came free from a different dungeon at a high rate. It is nice getting already-finished pieces from the end of dungeon chests, though.

Have you ever thought of getting 5 pieces of the apocalypse set and 2 pieces of the manticore set to maximize your hp? Unless you want the extra 196 final damage from having all 7 pieces or have OCD and you have to have the full set, then disregard what I said :p.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
Yeah, I contemplated ways of using a combination of manti/apoc for damage but with final damage being 4 piece, I decided to go with apoc since I like how it looks more. I will be doing a 2 2-piece set for accessories though, both for the final damage effect. Current goal is Craft > Enhance to +6 > Suffixes > Spiral/Vortex to +10 or higher and/or gather accessory pieces. Cannon is +4 now from Lebrium drops as I ran dungeons. Forgot nests reset today and will probably catch up on them tomorrow or Monday.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
50 cap may be coming soon.
It's pretty much confirmed that SEA is getting 50 cap either in August or September, and we're likely to follow very soon after. It'll probably be our official launch anniversary patch (September 28th).
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
no one in NaDN has killed sea dragon yet!?!?? I'm disappointed in you guys. We have a huge advantage over KDN when they got it (chem warfare)
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
Sea Dragon has only been out for four days. IIRC it took SEA a week to kill it, and their population is like 5x that of NA. So far, it looks like there's only a total of like 6 groups in NA that can even reach the Sea Dragon.
---
Nexon stealth nerfed Crude Approval Stamps with the Sea Dragon patch. They no longer work on class skill plates. (They still work on special skill plates such as Minotaur Cow Strike and the three Cerberus plates, but who uses them anymore?)
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
Haven't seen anything about East beating SDN yet, but I did see a ton of people showing off some item that lets you revive in the dungeon once, which seems like it could be extremely useful, but not very practical if it's rare as hell.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
As far as I know, the closest any group got to beating SDN in NA so far is a group in East that got him down to 8 bars.
What kind of crests and accessories do you have? My own Engineer has 2.6k phys, 30k HP, and 6k crit. She's only wearing like +8 level 40 blue armor/+10 blue weapons and windswept/destructive rings. You can probably get past 3k phys/35k HP easily after enhancing and sparking your stuff.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
2 piece cerberus nephrite (ring/necklace). Ring has phys/str/agi hiddens, necklace has agi/vit/mp hiddens. Earrings are level 37 Adorned (Epic), with agi/int/hp hiddens (This was an upgrade I made about 20 mins ago and gained 1.2k HP. The old hidden didn't have the HP line). My other ring is a level 29 destructive ring with phys/str/agi hiddens. When I finish my sparking/enhancing/suffixes on apoc I'll get to work on finding a pair of 2-piece accessory sets from manti/apoc. Preferably 2 rings for phys damage and whatever for earring + neck.
Crests are Superb Brutal (level 32), Superb Windswept (Level 24), Quality Destructive (Level 40), Quality Health (Level 40), Quality Ultimate (Level 40 w/ phys damage extra line), Superb Fierce (Level 40), Superb Stunning (Level 32 w/ Critical extra line), and Superb Life-Giving (Level 40). Skills crests are assorted crests I found while levelling. Switching my Bubble Trouble crest for a Superb Super Ball crest if I can find one from the pouch from Stashy in about 30 mins when I get 800 dimensional frags (got 755 right now).
As for my armor, it can all be seen in my screenshots when it's compared to the apoc pieces. Just got phys hidden on my +7 off hand finally though. Phys is now 2175 total. I'm up to 5 pipes and 8 hearts for apoc shoes. 22 more hearts is like 100g so I'll have those soon, the pipes are going to be between 150 and 200g total for the last 5 so that comes after hearts.
Re: Dragon Nest Social Thread
YAY got full version of fraps today :f2:. I made a video guide on getting "Combo God" for mercenaries just to test it out
I'm very very pleased with the quality that the video has.
