Careful, using big words makes you a target. A friend of a friend's cousin's brother's uncle told me so.
That's good to know. I don't recall that being the case the one time I item-locked something.
Of course, now I'm torn over whether I should bother. Making mesos is rough. :(
Only $20 to secure your account (last I knew prices).
They're calling it a 'feature'. ;)
They have one for characters.
It's called sending in a ticket and praying to as many gods as possible.
Seriously though, there have been some who have had deleted characters restored, but it strikes me as a rarity.
Personally, I find it ludicrous that it's as easy to delete a character as it is to login to it.
I've said before that they should have a sliding scale that makes higher leveled characters more difficult to delete...
Or, you know, it could be a timed process.
If this is fearmongering, then what's the aim?
Because, as I see it, this thread exists to inform and gather information over what is a very real situation, and the contributors have no means to personally benefit from letting others know of what has happened to them.
Pretending that such a situation isn't occurring only serves to make allowances for Nexon's apathy.
Can you drop the ring?
And does locking the ring work?
(I'm assuming that your character can't be deleted because your still married to someone and in order to divorce you have to return the ring)
Can the NPC take away a locked ring?
To sow fear, obviously.
There are numerous reasons to do so, from the simple desire to feel superior by trolling everyone else into panic, to driving perceived competition to quit or covering your own tracks or getting people to waste time and money making themselves look ridiculous.
Pretending people are rational and/or do things for the same motivations as you is just silly, narrow and naive.
You cannot drop the ring.
Locking it does nothing.
Likewise, pretending people are all devious and do everything for sadistic motivations is just silly, narrow, and naive.
You can cite all the hypothetical scenarios you can muster, but the fact that people are acting in a collaborative manner to gather information speaks against all that you've suggested.
Ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat.
Oh, and Eos, I do hope you remember your own words for the sake of the future.
I'm sure I will.
Can't be dropped.
Though now I'm confused since you could Potential yours but someone else reported that her friend couldn't...
No one said "all". "all" is not required. Only "some". Likewise there is no degree of cooperation required for multiple people for multiple reasons to spread lies and rumors and fear. The fact a few people are collaborating doesn't mean that everyone is being honest, the actions of one have no bearing on the actions, motivations, or intentions of "everyone". Just because a few people have a view point doesn't mean that's the only view point. Just because a few people have a theory doesn't mean it's the right theory. Presumption of innocence is irrelevant here.
Let me help you remember more;

Oh look. Consistency. Imagine that.
fck this is bullpomegranate nexon, "you cannot use scroll that can potentially destroy this item" fcking great now theres no way to stop hackers from deleting your char
O...kay...
"Pretending (some) people are rational and/or do things for the same motivations as you is just silly, narrow and naive."
So it's silly to pretend that some people are rational and/or do things for the same motivations as I do?
Yeah, unless I am a singularity among the human species, I find it quite unlikely that there is no one that things rationally and/or does things out of motivations which I share.
Or is that not what you meant?
See, I imagined that there was an implied "all" which would make your statement:
"Pretending (all) people are rational and/or do things for the same motivations as you is just silly, narrow and naive."
That made the meaning of your sentence quite clear to me, and it seemed quite logical.
However, as you tell me this isn't so, I don't know how to make heads or tails of it.
I agree, but I neither said nor implied that that was the case.
My only statement regarding cooperation was that people were cooperating for benevolent reasons as opposed to individually attempting to sow unrest.
It is perfectly relevant as you and Beg have accused participants in this thread of fearmongering.
Yes, there may be lies in this thread, but it is your charge to show evidence of deception instead of making vague accusations. That's where presumption of innocence comes in.
Few have presented any theory behind these hackings as absolute fact. Those that have have been rebuked, and the others have only reaffirmed that they are occurring while providing possible avenues through which they may be occurring.
Plenty have come forward as witnesses for the thread creator, so his claim of there being a hack has been supported.
Your claims, however, remain unfounded.
I'd imagine you'd want to explain what relevance those links serve.
The only consistency I see within is an air of superiority, and I would never deny that that was a quality in which you always remain consistent.
I don't know how to quote things specifically, so this is for Viaje.
People have been able to add potential to their wedding rings for a while, however, now that people are saying they can't do so, maybe it's reason to believe that Nexon has "fixed" that about the rings.
And why don't Viaje and Eos like each other?
I am not playing "Viajes walls of contrariness" with you. Good bye again.
To quote only a small section of a post, you have to go in and manually remove the bits you don't want, or you can chose to move the bits around using the copy and paste functions. If you want to quote multiple posts, then you can click on the icon at the bottom right corner of each post's perimeter. The icon looks like a small speech bubble with a quotation mark inside of it accompanied by a small plus symbol next it, if you click on the icon, then the plus symbol will become a check mark to indicate that you will automatically have that post put into your "quick reply" the next time you try to make a post.
I can't speak for Viaje, but I do know that Eos dislikes the way Viaje argues. Not to dig up dirt or anything, but heres a quote on it:
Ok I'm VERY surprised that no one has mentioned this, but CAN IMPS EAT LOCKED ITEMS?
Everyone's going on about deleting chars, scrolling locked items or booming wedding rings that can't be boomed...how about imps?
I know if you try to feed an imp a one of a kind, untradeable item (I only tested on a targa with horrible pots), it asks if you really want to feed it that item with a confirm....or it could just be because it's potted.
Recently a guildie/friend was hacked sharing all the same symptoms as those mentioned in this thread. He was level 200 and considered one of the top in his class equips wise. However, a few guild members had the luck to witness the hacking take place as well as the hacker selling his equips. I got to spend some face time with the hacker, spent about 4 hours communicating with him while I consolidating large amounts of mesos in order to buy the hacked gear back. This guy knew the value of what he was selling, very well, he continually referenced the values while I made low ball offers for each item. He referenced me to a well known gold site multiple times in case I needed more mesos to buy the gear, and became very upset (all caps rage) when I told him I usually bought from another company. Once he realized my intent to buy multiple items he quickly took them out of his shop and spent plenty of time bartering with me and ignoring other customers. It became very clear that he was in much of a hurry, and when I had the chance to ask him questions he informed me that he had looted several accounts that day, with my friend being the last for the day. I ended up getting a good 60-70b worth of gear for under 20b (which I sold back to the original owner for what I paid, before you all go off on me). When I asked the hacker if he worked for that website he replied yes, and that if I would like more hacked equipment for USD to contact the site. Which makes me believe he would be an actual employee at the company and not simply someone that sells to them, otherwise he would have just offered to sell to me himself. He had very bad english, similar to what I experience often when dealing with mesos selling sites.
tl;dr hacker was obviously connected to a mesos selling site in some way
seems I can't tell the specific site here, sorry!
Very interesting post. So the hackers are not as ignorant of the game as some have suggested; they are just in a rush.
I guess you do realize that as a customer of gold sites you are actually contributing to the problem?
Does anyone know the usual time-of-day these hacks occur? Attempting to stay logged in 24/7 is a major hassle for some.
