British Columbia Rocked By A 7.7 Earthquake....
....Yea. And yet they as well place a Tsunami Warning for Hawaii? Seriously? I mean come on.

What's wrong with that?

Hawaii is too far away. The only threat is just higher waves. I care about all this earthquake business, but placing a Tsunami Warning for Hawaii is just a joke. Just place a High Surf Warning.

Then again, I'm not sure if this tsunami threat is actually real this time, compared to the last two tsunami warnings. And the fact that we received less warning time compared to the last two.

Well, I'm looking live feeds from KITV4, Hawaii News Now and KHON2, they all say the North-Eastern shores will see any notices. Expected heights to reach almost 35ft.
...So yea, @JoeTang, I take back what I said. This is kinda is a problem/
Re: British Columbia Rocked By A 7.7 Earthquake....
I hope Victoria isn't effected too much by this..
Re: British Columbia Rocked By A 7.7 Earthquake....
I REALLY REGRET SAYING THAT.
-Roads being closed off, traffic ensued.
-Blockades Placed.
-Homes Evaced.
Expected Time:10:28~10:30
*Facepalm*
Re: British Columbia Rocked By A 7.7 Earthquake....
B.C.'s coast has been long overdue for a big earthquake, just hope it doesn't do too much damage.
Re: British Columbia Rocked By A 7.7 Earthquake....
...Well, the biggest surge from this Earthquake was from Crescent City, clocking in at over a foot...however, they were merely took the sideswipe...
Well, initial surge was nearly 10ft or something? I don't know, I'm not wasting my night waiting for a small Tsunami.
Re: British Columbia Rocked By A 7.7 Earthquake....
I'm glad nobody was seriously hurt, 7.7 is quite huge.

Better to give a warning than none at all, especially considering that LOLItalian scientists basically got sued for not giving an appropriate warning.
Plus higher than normal surf can be pretty bad as well. The 8.9 in Japan reached California and was able to wash out boats that weren't tied down properly and washed a swell of trash out into the Ocean. While not "catastrophic" by any means, it's still at least a little significant if only for a few seconds. 7.7 isn't too bad in terms of Tsunamis as earthquakes need to be much stronger to cause any significant damage to nearby areas (e.g. the Tsunami in December 2006 was caused by a ridiculously large earthquake really really close to those islands). I'd honestly be more worried about the people on land. 7.7 is a pretty big earthquake for a populated region.
Re: British Columbia Rocked By A 7.7 Earthquake....
tbh 8.9 vs 7.7 would be like... a tank vs a car. Both can kill people though and can make pretty big waves, but its just a gd thing that the conditions weren't optimal for tsunami generation this time.

I bet Japanese would call it average.
