We will be performing a scheduled minor patch on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 7:00 AM PST (10:00 AM EST / 4:00 PM CET / 2:00 AM AEDT). We anticipate the maintenance to last approximately 3 hours, concluding around 10:00 AM PST (1:00 PM EST / 7:00 PM CET / 5:00 AM AEDT).

Please note that the estimated length of time for each maintenance is subject to change without notification.

What will be unavailable:

• All MapleStory game servers.

Changes and Updates:

• MapleStory will be updated to v.178.4.0.
  
• Players that were affected by the issue with the Mix Dye Coupon will receive a replacement coupon for each of the coupons that were lost due to the issue. Please claim your Mix Dye Coupon(s) by clicking the gift box icon on the left side of the screen before midnight (12:00 AM Pacific) on January 1, 2017.
• Players that were unable to open additional Daily V 180m Boxes from the Play V event will be given a replacement Daily V 180m Box for the ones that were lost. Please accept your Daily V 180m Box by clicking the gift box icon on the left side of the screen before midnight (12:00 AM Pacific) on January 1, 2017.
• Newly created Kaiser characters will now properly receive the Dragon Link Skill.
• The Super Megaphone and Item Megaphone cash items will now work properly when used.
• The Mix Dye Coupon will no longer use two coupons when dyeing your hair.
• Newly created 'Burning' characters will now properly receive the Mega Burning Project event rewards.
• The Lightning God Ring will now properly apply the buff and animation.
• The Daily V 180m Box will now properly give the Master Craftsman's Cube to players in Reboot world.
• Players in Reboot world can now properly receive the Master Craftsman's Cubes from the V Tracker event.
• Additional back end changes will be made to alleviate recent lag issues.

I hope they don't cap Santa's boxes. I was going to use my 2x drop to farm some tonight but it's too laggy to do anything.

Knowing how they handled it last year, they're definitely going to ninja-nerf them and then actually add it to the patch notes after people start complaining.
Basically, there's a reason the servers are suddenly lagging after they announced an actual patch.

Servers have been lagging since the v178 patch.
But yeah, all farming spots are full, because everybody knows this is too good to last.

The V Coins obtained from Shining Santa Boxes now have a limit of 10 coins per day.

Wow, how nice of them to add this AFTER the maintenance ended. Surely they just forgot about this very minor change and only added it because they genuinely forgot to add it to the notes.

Gosh, I lost like five cubes from the bugged V Tracker and 180m boxes, and they gave ONE 180m box as a compensation.
I guess I'll just consider the coins I got from Santa Boxes a compensation. Sigh.

So aparentaly you can by-pass the cap if you go to 8>11, 9>11 or basically not go to 10, some friends sayed they could go infinitely passing the number 10

Also, the stockings you grow in the item pot still give Reboot Coins rather than V Coins.

The drop rate of the Santa boxes themselves seems to have been nerfed to oblivion as well, around 0.4x of the old rate from my experience. So yes, you're getting fewer enjoyable winters too.

I get the feeling that whoever's in charge of making MapleStory decisions now is royally pissed at all the long maintenances and endless issues making a disaster of this patch that was supposed to bring players back. Not to mention KThxBaiNao doing whatever he did to get himself canned and leave all his work for others - unqualified others - to do on top of their own.
And this pissed-off person is taking it all out on us.
Just in time for Christmas, too.
