All the cool kids are doing it.
They do have a server status page: http://maplestory.nexon.net/news/ser...2,3,4,5,6,9,16
Unfortunately it shows green all the time, except when the game is down for maintenance.
I don't know whether it's because it doesn't even try to update in real-time (only manually to reflect the intended status), or because most of our "connectivity issues" are network issues (or DDOS) which don't affect their internal LAN.
Yeah, I never understood why they thought their own server status page that wasn't pinging their servers from somewhere else other than their own network would be of much help.
StatusPage.io can use New Relic and/or Pingdom to help determine whether or not the service is down and I know that Nexon uses New Relic for their websites so I can assume that they have New Relic integrated into the game servers (or at least the apps that manage the game servers) as well. Nexon seems to be very open to third party services nowadays, unlike the past (their own community forums vs. vBulletin/Vanilla Forums; in-house customer support vs Parature (past)/Zendesk (present)) so I don't think that moving to a 3rd party service should be an issue.
guys, it's obviously a 10th anniversary event
celebrating 10 years of lag!
