    I'm not talking about the size of maps. I'm talking about the total number of maps in the game. More content = more data = lag/instability = complaints = areas made simpler to shore up space = more content.

    The number of maps absolutely shouldn't be a concern when it comes to storing data. The amount of storage a map takes up is probably negligible when compared to images or sound files. The client isn't going to have nearly as much of a problem loading the next map as it is loading a new tileset or new background music, and the server isn't even going to have image or sound data. 500 maps probably isn't much different from 1000 maps in the final game size.

    The client likely doesn't have many issues with map data either - it's going to spend much more time loading images and sound files than map data, and while the client is processing calculations on its current map it doesn't need to worry about any other map. The client shouldn't need to care if an area has 10 or 100 maps if the tileset is the same for all of them.

    Now I suppose that the server could have an issue with more active content, but the complexity increase from more active maps should scale linearly. Assuming they implemented their physics well, the amount of time spent calculating collisions should be minimal as well regardless of the size of the map. It's possible they've delegated a small amount of power to processing non-player data (I would expect maintaining active connections requires many, many, more cycles since that does increase exponentially), but they'd probably be better off spending their money on upgrading their servers to deal with the increase in computation complexity than spend the manhours rearranging maps to try and save on processing power.

    I do not miss not being able to reach level 50. I could only get to level 50 after the original Monster Carnival was released.

    Ah the old Sleepywood runs using a level 1 beginner or was it level 10, when there was a real fun community... feels so long ago.

    Pretty sad how though they've made travel for a lot of classes easier through flash jumps and vertical movement skills they've still reduced the map sizes.

    It would have more sense to have the big map now, it's not hard to say that much peoples complained that the maps were to big and most of the classes too slow, only Hermits and Night Lords could really be fast(or thieves because of Hast), but they problably also removed much hidden streets as AionJC talks here>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlwaKTjno38 and the size of the maps because there were useless, too muchs maps and big that weren't used at all, the hidden streets nobody really used and was just getting the server slower, also if you see today, much places you level or go to train they aren't in the word map, you have a map created just for you or for your party, much dungeouns that don't have a limit like normal zakum did(only expedition could battle with zakum, not like today that you can have more), so you have much peoples going in maps that can be created only when they go too, so you won't have a map open all the time.
    High levels go train in maps that you can see in the word map but still.
    Maybe players can say to nexon just get bigger specific maps like the ant tunnel as they say or Ellinia too.
    Thinking that the Tot maps got smallers too, and nobody sayed nothing, but not many peoples trained there too so it's ok.
    Note: maybe they also did that because there aren't so much players like before?

    I enjoyed that, but my favorite was definitely finally hitting level 50, and getting to enter the level 50+ area in el nath. So used to training on mushrooms, and kitty mobs in orbis, entering and seeing lycans/werewolves and just being terrified lol. The walk to zombies was pretty cool, the music was eerie as well. Exploration was a huge part of this game. Now, im pretty sure I could get to zakum on a level 20 by walking we have so much HP.


    Edit : also, when Ludi first came out, walking down to vikings/grims and seeing gatekeeper/thanatos was cool, and that big ass 100 floor tower we got as oppose to the 20 floor one from orbis to el nath lol. It sucked to climb, but you know you were curious when it first came out to explore it.

    I miss escorting newbies who took the wrong cab from Lith Harbor. I'd get them out of sleepywood, and past that dangerous golem pit on the way to henesys. I would just chill by the sleepywood entrance and wait for a confused dude in red boots to inevitably spawn, while talking to my buddy list in the meantime. It never took more than 15 minutes for one of them to appear, and they were always stupidly grateful when we reached Henesys safe and sound. Eventually I started escorting newbies out of El Nath, too. I don't even remember how they got stuck there, but it happened pretty often. I'd grind on jr. pepes until some intrepid dude in red boots appeared. Always the red boots. But I digress.

    There were so many weird ways to pass the time back then. Now it feels like everyone's on a set path leading to one destination.

    The other poll needed an update and reliable sources inform me that it is not changeable, so I took some of Takebackers advice and bumped a similar thread. I would be curious to see what effect this kind of change would have on Party quests and if it would help revive any of the ones that got shut down since the time of the BB.

    Haha I remember being one of those newbies when I first started playing that took the wrong cab to sleepywood. I was stuck until some nice mapler helped me out back to Henesys. I also remember going to El nath really underleveled just to explore, though I didn't get too far before I noticed that the monsters there were at least 20 levels above me. I did need help getting back up the tower though.. It was such a long hike back up lol.

    I miss those days.
