Well, I decided to create this thread for general manga discussion since I couldn't really find any good relevant ones. Anything from cancelled/incomplete, past completed to on-going series, recommendations and reviews, etc... ones that aren't particularly mainstream or already has a topic for them. Of course there will be spoilers here and there, so you know how it goes to avoid spoiling it for people that haven't read them yet.
Anyway, to start a few:
Liar Game
I think the latest chapter was released recently. It's the start of a new arc and maybe the last. This might just be me, I find the artwork a bit weird and somewhat disfigured (?) and it takes a while for each chapter to be released (which sort of adds to the suspense), but I really like the psychological and mystery aspect and how the author can put it all together in the end, usually in a seemingly clever way... even though there are some odd logic thrown in there. I do like it overall and Akiyama somehow reminds me of a fused L and Kira from Death Note . Anyway, can't wait to see how Akiyama and Yokoya will go at it.
UQ Holder
Being a sequel to Negima, I'm still curious on how it's going to be connected. The naming and the looks of certain characters may give off a hint or some premonition too, but we'll see how that will get revealed. I've read up the latest chapter, and so far I'm enjoying the action and progression of how it's going. Lots of random fights, developments/build-up for characters and plot. The whole immortal nest showing up in the end and Touta is dealing with his Magia Erebia troubles makes me curious, but otherwise looks pretty cool.
Many don't like this manhwa since it lost all the comedy Goomonryong added to it but I still find it pretty good and exciting (though its art quality decreased greatly). I can't wait to see whats gonna happen "when the night falls". Everyone turning super saiyan and going berserk in every street or organizing themselves as a group of Nazis and going after the... blue house? (I think thats the goverment house's name in Korea.) In any case there's definitely going to be a lot of baddass fights.
tower of god
Meh, SIU needs to take a break and get his surgery, for a season finale these fights are going pretty boringly. All I'm waiting for is to see if its gonna end as dramatically as the first season or as a calm weather before the definitely storm it should be season 3.
New chapter is out. I'm really liking the fast-paced fights with the occasional humor in it. That guy at the end kind of looks like Fate. It's probable that he's still around. I'm curious on how they'll explain and connect the story back to Negima as well as reintroducing old characters. We can sort of expect that happening in a way...
Started typesetting Schoolmate for 2Qscanlations. First time trying something like this so it probably isn't the best but someone had to do it.
Managed to get ch19 out in about 2 hours, hopefully quality is better.
Needs some polishing. Definitely better than most of the first-time typesetters I've tested, but in ch18 the same font was used for almost everything in the chapter. There's a guide on the RedHawk Scans' forum under Scanlator Tutorials for typesetting that I generally point my new typesetters at, so take a look at that.
Also, Schoolmate is most definitely not something I'd link to on Southperry, lol
Nisekoi 119
Another god damn key?! What the pineapple. I know the winning girl is going to be Chitoge or Kosaki, but I saw the key and kinda wanted to flip my table. This better serve as a catalyst to move the plot along a bit, and not just +1 harem member.

Thanks, I'll take a look at that. Still need to grab some fonts too. And I din't link to ch19 directly for reasons.
Nisekoi: Pretty sure Raku was a keymaker as a kid and gave keys to all his friends as a kid. And then he told one of them that he will marry them if they keep the key, the rest overhear, and like most manga protagonists he has god awful memory of his childhood so he forgets the girl. I'm just waiting for a boy (or trap) to show up. Then again, at this point the girl could literally just buy a key and convince Raku that it was her that he gave the key to.
Most disappointing and rushed ending i've read in quite some time, and i don't even care about who keima ended up with. Atleast LC is happy, that's the only good thing about this ending. Also no definitive true-end? pineapple you wakaki, couldn't you just have outright said that chihiro won instead of this bullpomegranate maybe open ending pomegranate? Right now it's essentially an open ending with a possible chihiro end. Time travel arc was also dragged on and pineappleing awful, and then the actual ending is rushed as pineapple. GOD DAMNIT.
I've been reading this manga since the start and it's not because of the author and the random stuff that goes on in it mind you... It's still classified under Shonen/Jump, but I got curious. I still find it pretty intense, random/silly, and interesting even if it is a manga about food and cooking. I really like the artwork (especially the expressions) and pacing of it even though there are a lot of cliffhangers. I do enjoy it with all the build up and development. And an odd thing that I sometimes do is looking up some of the ingredients, food, and dish names this manga mentions (and getting hungry at times?). I'm learning random things about... food...
Anyway, Souma defeated Alice. Can't wait to see the reaction between everyone else.
And on another side note, gotta to love her expressions :d
Nisekoi
I like the light hearted humor and silly moments in manga, this one is no exception. Another key holder to the lock... I like the development and dynamic of the relationships going on, but does it feel that the plot and suspense gets stretched out more than it needs to at times? I don't hate it of course. Maybe it's just me because how the release dates for these chapters are, though there are other manga in the same boat as this too... :d

tosh is a god tier artist.
Nisekoi
I did not like the turn with the newest Nisekoi chapter, and I think it's dragging it too far. I think adding another girl to the harem is fine, but adding another key holder is pushing it. My expectation is that it's completely unrelated and will be revealed fairly quickly, hopefully.
I grew fond of LG's artstyle. Their exaggerated expressions are really amusing to watch, especially Nao's "EHHHHHHHH" or her screaming.
Liar Game
Yokoya, Yokoya. I'm more curious as to how Fukunaga lost, since it wasn't really revealed by Yokoya. Akiyama's getting a bit too boring lately, to me, anyway.
The long wait times didn't help. Nearly a year, no, OVER a year passed before Convening was released. And I don't really want to return to annoying Nao just to remember what had happened previously.
The drama was pretty fun to watch, though.
Shokugeki no Soma
Finally knuckled down and caught up after my brother introduced it to me; Akame ga kiru, watch. out.
I like the development a lot. Though I could predict a lot of the outcomes and plot twists (can you even call them twists?), it was all the fascinating stuff about food that won me over, and the characters are adorable.
But I will be surprised if Megumi wins. If she pulls some transformation guff on Alice's aide (can't remember names lol) like Erina's aide did to Nao, blah. Though White Nao was very pretty...
Still don't know what to feel about Souma. He's funny, yes, but I can't help but notice the small harem of blushing shy girls
I mean, hello?? Satoshi is RIGHT THERE, just saying! And the smoke guy (i-bu-something-ki?)!
Actually satoshi's too... gray-like. Maybe not. But him in a suit
Well yeah, Tosh is a god tier artist.
But I guess part of the predictability of this manga is because it's more down to Earth. It seems the authors really tries hard to make it logically reasonable that would have obey real world physics in some manner; no supernatural stuff that needs another explanation... Though I'm still curious on how Souma made a detailed Gundam action figure thing out of a carrot ;d. Anyway, you can tell there's a lot of research that's put into it aside from the fact that the author is collaborating with a famous chef. The stuff they put in like odd foodgasms(?), the pacing, and detailed artwork would just make it more interesting to read. Characters are designed pretty well and fleshed/developing out at a decent pace imo. I'd think there would be a few that would annoy or charm you. There's a few tsundere types that makes it pretty funny.
I've read a lot of manga, but this feels like the few that doesn't try to 'waste panels' and stretch out the plot and suspense more than it needs to compared to like Bleach or something. I don't really mind the cliffhangers if that's to compensate for it though.
Shokugeki no Soma
Here's to Joe's Ramen thread, as the next theme match deals with Ramen. Of course, you can expect it won't just be any ordinarily made ramen.
