I don't think there would be any way to "prove it" since Nexon doesn't state the odds to many things. Like what is the % chance of ranking up with a given cube? Or what are the odds of getting a tyrant equip from one spin of the Marvel Machine? Nexon doesn't state the actual odds to these events for the same reason casinos don't want you to know the odds...
So with no stated odds for these types of events, they could conceivably alter the values at any time they wished, and we would have no clue. I've only seen anecdotal evidence of these types of things, no "solid evidence".
But Nexon does have a track record for being shady in this regard... wasn't there some anniversary scroll in KMS that players discovered actually had diminishing success rates for every successful pass of the scroll? (a quick 5 second google search couldn't find me a source... so maybe someone knows more about this one)
It's a LOT easier to manipulate the outcome table than the seed itself.
For example, there is probably a line somewhere saying
"if (random() > epic_to_unique_threshold(cube_type)) then rank_up"
Changing the threshold is easy (if you've coded for the possibility, of course, and didn't hard-code it as a constant... that's where the sneakiness comes in).
Figuring out what seed to use to make sure that 1/100 numbers come up above the threshold instead of 1/50 - that's difficult and pointless.
Similarly for the probabilities of different lines. Nexon knows full well which are desirable lines and which are crap (even though they pretended not to know and only removed the lines explicitely mentioned in A Better Maple from the pool), and they can alter their likelihoods on a whim.
Again, this doesn't require "manipulating the seeds".
Can't speak for the rest of the world, but in America, if you're gambling for money, they have to post the odds. The only notable exception is raffles/lotteries, since they can't predict in advance how many people will buy tickets. And lotteries still suggest the overall odds.
f2p games with gambling mechanisms get around that by only rewarding you with items of 0 retail value.
I actually made posts 2 years ago about the RNG in maple being easy to abuse, and than any posts about it were deleted but to summarize why bait-scrolling works. I do not believe that failing 1 10% raises the odds of the next 10% scroll to 20%, I don't even believe failing 5 scrolls raises the 10% scroll odds even a little. The reason so much more "success" in bait scrolling tales is because by bait scrolling you are able to see where the RNG seed is currently is which lets you decide when you want to use your scroll and by doing so you give yourself better odds of knowing the good seed instead of scrolling blind.
Because it's semi-related. Threw money at my Zero weapon the past few days. 66 Black Cubes. Still Unique. This is ridiculous. What's the worst cubing luck you guys had getting to Legendary? I think I'll just wait for a Miracle Time and cube like mad then.
Went through over 220k last night using black cubes.. I have to have the worst luck going as I only got one piece of gear from Epic to Unique.
Too add more insult I got Rare to Epic from those new event cubes within 3 goes.
Heh, personally had better luck with reds.
