I would prefer they listen to what everyone said in that thread and instead of changing the drop rate later on they would fix how you get the crappy gear that is meant to be easier to get than SW(and maybe a real overhaul on the crappy craft system).
Because they already put them there and that prompted rage and an A Better Maple question.
It's good to know they won't pull the same trick with Sweetwater, at least they learned something.
It's also good to know they are aware of maybe having to retweak the drop rate.
I do agree the Sweetwater gear was too cheap for its stats.
We'll just have to wait and see what happens.
I meant taking tyrant/RA/fafnir stuff out of the Marvel machine too, not just lowering the drop rate of them just to stuff them in some form of cash shop box. But I suppose taking those out would discourage people from actually putting money into the Marvel Machine. At least in Windia, RA stuff is going for around 700m, and there's quite a bit of them in the fm.
Anyway, them mentioning:
Currently we have a number of equips available which were intended to be part of the player progression up towards Sweet Water but are being skipped over because of the unnaturally high drop rate of Sweet Water in the current game. These include:
• Reverse
• Timeless
• Abyss
• Fearless
• Imperial
• EmpressThey 'asked'... but I'd think there'd be rage posts about it whether or not they really do put sweetwater items into the Marvel, if they include Tyrants/RA equipment. We can poke/question the logic and their decisions in that, but we already know that it'll never make sense in any way. Oh well. Since it's mentioned, we can pretty much expect they're planning to release another Marvel Machine session soon enough. As an FYI NxA has also asked the developer not to include Sweet Water items in the Marvel Machine drops so hopefully that reduces any concerns you have there.
And also, there's a Developer AMA thing going on.
I don't really like their mentioning all these "equips which were intended to be part of the player progression".
Once upon a time you replaced your equipment every ten levels, but ever since scrolling and cubing became so expensive, and leveling up became so easy, nobody in their right mind would go through all or even half of these steps, regardless of availability.
(Well, if something were really easy people would use it clean, but I hardly see that as "progression" towards an endgame equip).
That Nexon actually think skipping directly to whatever endgame gear is currently available (and one can afford) is somehow wrong is troubling. They really don't know how the game is played, do they?
Apparently not. Aside from cubing and scrolling becoming more expensive and a pain in general, most those are completely untradeable, so players get no resale value. I did my fair share of cubing and scrolling reverse weapons and armors when they first came out, and out comes power creep with new better stuff. I recently upgraded to a sweetwater weapon (didn't spend much on it anyway), but it feels like a waste to just throw out my old reverse weapon considering how much I spent on it. Oh well, it'll be staying in my inventory for an eternity. With that, I doubt much of anyone is willing to spend money and effort into something that isn't end game and just to toss it out later due to being untradeable, or is expecting the next power creep content.
Anyway, they did make it a little easier to level (Red leaf high and evo world is good training, along with 2x daily + events sprinkled in every now and then) and there's nothing else barring the player from equipping them besides a level requirement. They removed stat requirements off equipment a long time ago (not like it matters much now with all the abundance of passives and equips that gives a lot of all stats) as well put out bypass keys every now and then, so mentioning 'progression and skipping' sounds a bit awkward.
The worst part of that being that you cannot ever trade the Reverse item. My first 200 is fully decked in reverse gear still. At the time I got it, it was the top tier and I invested good $$$ into it. Now it's outclassed by everything above it. I don't want to upgrade his gear because there's nothing I can do with his existing gear. I can't pass it on to a mule or sell it.
The dumb thing here is that they have not adapted older end-game gear to be the new transition gear. The various lvl 120 gear should be retro-fitted with tradability and Set Bonuses. The only lvl 120 gear I ever use on any character now is the occasional Necro weapon. But, really, they need to make the 120 stuff drop normally. As it stands, by the time you could possibly get one for yourself, you don't need it anymore. (How many people are in the lvl 120 range for more than a couple of hours these days anyway?)
Seeing as how this week is pretty much over, at Nexon anyways, and I don't want to start a new thread for this simple question: Is anyone else still hellbanned?
No nexon, the reason people skip all those equips is because you've created an environment where to make a weapon worth using at high end bosses, you have to spend a significant amount of NX to get it to the point where it is unique/legendary with a boss % damage line. No-one in their right mind would do that on a stopgap weapon when you can reasonably rush through to the point where you can get a tyrant or sweetwater equip.Currently we have a number of equips available which were intended to be part of the player progression up towards Sweet Water but are being skipped over because of the unnaturally high drop rate of Sweet Water in the current game. These include:
• Reverse
• Timeless
• Abyss
• Fearless
• Imperial
• Empress
The new drop rate was only implemented today so it is much too early for anyone to know if it is too low yet. How about in about a month we revisit this and if players are still overwhelmingly in favor of a drop rate increase we can discuss that with the developer?
In fact, really, there's no point to the midtier weapons because 110 weapons with decent scrolling is enough to get you through to that point, and there are no midtier bosses in maplestory. Either you can kill it with virtually no boss damage and a 110 weapon with a few 3% stat lines, or it's ridiculously unkillable unless you go all in, which means tyrant or sweetwater.
Because "dang, no one uses the level 120 trash equips. Maybe if we add them again, but with an even more grindy and convoluted method to obtain them?"
I honestly think they are either in denial or they honestly do not know how fast people can grind out those levels to make those equips worthless.
To be fair, recoloring and re-releasing the same equips over and over has to be easier than creating new, different equips a handful of times a year.
