RED crafting

So since I read that you need to keep crafting in order to keep the craftman and the meister ranks I've been wondering if it's a bad idea to craft here and there and that you actually need to be an active crafter to get and keep those ranks but thats just what I think, so how fast is the mastery decay? or the points don't decay and you just get some sort of timer after your last craft? does this apply to rank 10 to master craftman or does it only apply after you achive master craftman or higher?

From what I've noticed you lose a set number of mastery points every x hours (where x <= 12).

When you are lvl 12, you can continue crafting and getting mastery, it just adds up continually.
