I'm just playing with words lol. What i said is actually true though, or at least to my knowledge.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotfix "The term "hotfix" was originally applied to software patches that were applied to "hot" systems; that is, systems which are live, currently running and in production status rather than development status...This could increase the cost of the fix by requiring rapid development, overtime or other urgent measures. For the user, the hotfix could be considered more risky or more likely to fail to resolve the problem. This could cause an immediate loss of services and/or revenue, so depending on the severity of the bug, it may be desirable to delay a hotfix. The risk of applying the hotfix must be considered against the risk of not applying it, because the problem to be fixed might be so critical that it could be considered more important than a potential loss of service" (Eh, close enough?)

That's what Hotfixes mean for WoW at least.
Don't know about other games and how they implement / define "hotfixes".
Well thanks for the links guys lol
No ima go practice on my interview questions s good luck to ya'll on not getting ban hammered by nexon falsely!
So this kinda means that their won't be a rollback, right?
Couldn't play Maple this whole day. #firstworldproblems
This is seriously one long server maintenance. I can only imagine the exploit/dupe hack was THAT bad.
I honestly don't care if they rollback the economy - it seems like the right thing to do judging by the things I've read. Personally, I haven't been in FM since the RED patch hit. Instead, I've been racing a friend (197) to 200. In the past two days I leveled from 191-195, which for me is a huge deal. Losing those levels is going to demotivate me so hard. Why doesn't Nexon hand out storm growth potions for the levels players lose to rollbacks instead of doing half-assed 2x events? It seems like a reasonable way to please all parties involved.
It's a shame that it's not easier to quarantine exploits in a virtual economy. I gave it some thought last night and realized how much of a hell this is for the people working at Nexon, from a technical standpoint.
I've always known this but I must really.. be addicted to this game because I'm refreshing the USC page multiple times for an update on what's going to happen (just so I can cry it off if it's a roll back, before the game comes back on).
We've had this discussion dozens of times on this site and it's become very obvious that Nexon will never be willing to invest the time and money required to actually solve these duping and item generating exploits instead of patching over them. One can only hope MapleStory 2 will be better designed.
