What happens to Maplestory (1?) when this comes out? Does anyone else have experience with this kind of transition, maybe something like Guild Wars to Guild Wars 2. That's just an example that I have no direct experience with. If everything is going to be wiped in two or three years, there are probably a lot of things I would reconsider doing/preparing for/wasting time or money on.

Only way MS can go "3D" with the current models and sprites is if they go 2.5D like Y's origin or such games, that's the only way they can make it work, if they try to go full 3D, I don't see this working.

MapleStory and MapleStory 2 are separate games.

The difference is that the sequel will be a full 3D MMORPG offering a quarter view perspective. I want to emphasize that they are two different separate games with each game having different game mechanics and gameplay.
Both games are developed by their own separate teams. MapleStory is developed by the MS Team while MapleStory 2 is developed by the MS2 Team. Development of MapleStory will still continue when MapleStory 2 is released.

And no, you cannot transfer anything from MapleStory to MapleStory 2. The only thing that will be linked to each other will be via events and such.

Vindictus isn't Mabinogi II, though, that's a completely different game, which is also in development. (Sorry for this stupid semantic point, but I happen to very much be "into" Vindictus and for some reason that makes me want to point out trivial things like this.)

Anyway, I dunno, I can't really see MapleStory 2 being as popular as MapleStory, unless, like many people have said, it wasn't pay to win, since they'd be independent.
