  1. Default Does one hand + shield even have an advantage over two hand weapons anymore?

Since now that the damage cap is 50 million (Not that I'd ever even hit 999999.) and there's now secondary weapons that can be used with two handers, I'm just curious if one handers even have an advantage anymore.

How close does the gap in damage range have to be in order for the Attack Speed from a one hander to be worth it?

Im too lazy to do the math regarding ranges so ill let someone else handle that.

As for the bonuses, a shield is a secondary weapon for ANY class that can equip it, e.g heroes/pallies etc

This will be come really nifty post R.E.D (where adventurers can switch job sub classes, e.g. hero->pally) because it means a 1h sword+shield user can essentially keep their range intact while switching classes.

It's supposed to balance out, with ~10% more speed for 1h vs ~10% higher weapon multiplier for 2h.
However, if you can reach speed cap with a 2h weapon (which is not that hard with decent SI, attack speed inner ability, or green MPE potions), 2h has a clear advantage.

Shields can be scrolled for attack, while other secondaries can't (but have some built-in). However, in this age of attack on every piece of gear + over 200 attack on your main weapon, an extra 20 attack on your shield vs. secondary is not going to make up for that 10% weapon multiplier difference.

Only advantage is if you want to prepare for RED and be able to switch between Hero and Paladin without scrolling/ cubing a new weapon.

Still wondering if Paladin needs a shield after RED so they can use 2 handed bw without a clear disadvantage. Currently, if you do not use a shield you lose out on 3-5 bonuses that are pretty useful.

IIRC Nexon made the shield skills work on Rosary after RED.

Then only advantage would be.....Huh I forgot paladin can use 2h sword as well.

Guess that sorta screws over most shield users. Only advantage would be scrolling a wep for much much cheaper [apparently in yellonde, 1h fafnir sword goes for 2.5 bil, while a 2h fafnir sword goes for 10 bil+ ]

Some of paladins skills will not work without shield right now, but they later change it so you can use secondary weapons.

Hmm just remembered that Hero and Paladin have different secondary items. You would need to potential a new set for each character.

Unless that changed in RED to =x

I suppose this really only applies to Heroes and Paladins now. Other shield users don't have 2H weapons. So you'd need the +1 attack speed inner ability and decent SI to always be at 2H capped speed. But let's say you have that.

If you had 250 attack already. A +10 Lionheart Battle Scimitar scrolled with 50% scrolls gets you most of the way there. Assuming equal potentials/stats otherwise, a 3 attack offhand verses a 27 attack shield ends up being...

    1H sword + shield=
    1.20*(4 * STR + DEX) * (277 / 100)
    =3.324 * (4 * STR + DEX)

    2H sword + offhand=
    1.32*(4 * STR + DEX) * (253 / 100)
    =3.339 * (4 * STR + DEX)

Almost equal, really. But the offhand is ever so slightly better. However, if you have super godly items, that 2H multiplier gets even better. And while possible, it's tough to get a shield over 27 attack in GMS. If you could do really, really well with Incredible Chaos scrolls, then yeah. Or if we get Miraculous EE's (doubtful, but who really knows), putting a crapton of extra attack on a shield would make it worthwhile.

...inb4 Tyrant Shield or something crazy like that.

I don't see why the HP washing would be affected. It's just a job ID change and nothing else.

Pirates do get their DEX and STR switched if necessary, so a stat change is possible.
But I don't see any reason for HP to be touched.
