Also discussion thread over at /r/RWBY. Finally gonna start going back there since there's actually stuff to talk about, instead of obscene amounts of fanart/AU/self-referential stuff.
Solid episode. Absolutely loved the first scene, but disappointed to see that Taiyang didn't have a completed model. Maybe he won't make an appearance in Volume 3, but eh, I'll live.
Fight scene was awesome. Great to see Team RWBY back in action, and with such style. Seems like Arslan from Team ABRN was carrying the rest (especially considering that really, really dumb move by Reese and how Bolin/Nadir didn't really seem to do much?). Excited to see how Chapter 2 will turn out, since we haven't really seen JNPR in action for quite some time.
Also Ren's new voice actor, Monty's brother Neath, is doing a really good job. Props to him.
I was a bit uneasy about Volume 3 without Monty... But y'know, the rest of the RT team seems to be doing well. Hopefully they can keep it up.
Loved JNPR's little banter and Neptune's horribly ironic phobia. Expected a bit more from Team SSSN because of that trailer (especially Sage... he looks so cool but he was KO'd so early :/), but solid fights overall.
Drunk Qrow, so pleasant. Looks like we'll finally be seeing Winter in the next chapter, that'll be fun.
So mad that their plans have been working so effectively, but it also hinged on the fact that just the two medics came to check on Mercury. I think of any of the Atlas guys went to check on Mercury, Emerald probably would've passed out since working her semblance on the medics was already a strain, and they'd see Mercury's mechanical legs. It really pushes it for me, from brilliant plan to really more just dumb luck, which just aggravates me as to why it's working. I was so not looking forward to the fallout after Yang's attack, and I feel like I was right to feel that way. I'm wondering if Pyrrha can somewhat sense the shape of the objects she can manipulate with her magnetism, because then surely she'd know about his legs.
On a better note, it was pretty interesting to see a maiden's power, and of course, actually confirm that Cinder is the one who took half of Amber's power with that weird bug grimm. Didn't expect that they coerced Adam into the partnership, but it makes sense in retrospect, them being humans and all.
Wow, I had no reason to suspect Vernal wasn't the Spring Maiden, and I know there's been speculation that Raven was a maiden from basically the point where the maidens were introduced, but still. It does make sense that Raven would have a decoy though, I mean, that's so Raven.
I like that the visuals of this show look like they came out of a video game.
I also like the music even though I don't always catch all the words right away.
Spoiler
The theme song for Volume 4 says something along the lines of "We were just pretenders in a Fairy tale, Oh noes!"
This is also when the story gets a little dark.
Then in Volume 5, the theme changes to "The Fairy tale is back boi! We can still win this!"
Its only a minor detail but I was relived when the song became more triumphant.

Yea, I was totally fooled until she made the reveal herself.
