  1. Default League of Legends Equivalent to The International of DotA2

Hello, a new LoL player here that wants to follow the LoL pro scene like in DotA2.

I was wondering does Riot host any tournaments like Valve does similar to The International?
The International is where Valve invites the top 16 teams in the world and they fight off for like 1 million dollars. This is hosted yearly since 2011.

So does Riot host any tournaments? and is there like an equivalent to The International where they do it yearly?

    www.twitch.tv/riotgames (currently live)

We have competition weekly here, it's split up into regions. Thursday/Friday are NA's weekly tournaments, Saturday/Sunday are Europe's (these two regions are salaried). China, Korea, and Southeast Asia also have their own leagues, I don't know when their matches take place. There's an international final at the end of the season but I'm not sure when that is. We're at the beginning of the second half in North America and Europe.

LoL's competitive scene is even bigger than Dota's

Last season the prize pool was $5 million for Worlds.

I sure hope that you know without DoTA there'd be no LoL. Guinsoo originally was in charge of DoTA before he left to work for Riot and left the game in the hands of IceFrog. The other reason it's in beta for so long is for Valve and IceFrog to give the game a great polish and to prepare it for the impending flood of players. They're still importing the remaining heroes from the original DoTA to DoTA 2, which is what's taking the game so long to finally release.

Just as a comparison of the polish they put into DoTA 2: Each champion in LoL has about 2 minutes of lines at most, apparently up to 5 minutes for some of them (seeing Battlecast Prime Chogath). Each hero in DoTA 2 has on average 10 minutes of dialogue, nearly all being context specific (meeting certain heroes, killing certain heroes, dying, attacking, moving, getting hurt, etc) with the longest being nearly 17 minutes of dialogue. There's over 100 heroes, so that's roughly 17 hours of audio for here lines alone. Yes. Then you got announcer packs which change the announcer voice, where one was made by a well known DoTA celebrity. Seriously, the voice work for this game is nothing short of amazing.

    Have a sample hero voice:

But eh, it's not really the more popular game than which game will get a more exciting competitive scene in the long run.
