I have determined that my PCs with the i945 and lower chipset experience game killing town lag. My tolerable lag and other PCs are i965 and better.

I haven't played for a couple years. Same computer, everything was fine back then. I get on now and find I get 1 frame per minute in town! I posted about it here and was referred to this thread... it cripples me in town. I didn't get any of my characters out of a town...I wonder if I even could? 45% of people have this problem? Pft... how is it that when this problem was first introduced it didn't cause an immediate unscheduled maintenance?
I mean what is the dialogue between their employees when this subject comes up? "Half the players' games freeze almost completely when they're in town because of a few NPCs!"
"Sucks for them." ?????
I'm not versed in the programming of video games, but I would venture to guess that this problem in no way needs to exist.
Someone said the tempest update introduced this? I just reinstalled the game after a long break so I have no idea what's in this patch... besides cripple many gamers, what do these NPCs do now that they didn't do before? How long ago did this start?
I always lag or freeze in towns. My laptop is very new and has good specs so I am always a bit confused as to why it lags. It's always been like that for me.
Most of the time I do not have much lag in towns, but other times I can barely do anything.
I have a decent computer and usually have no problems playing MS, but sometimes the lag is horrible.
I know many here are saying if you suffer town lag you should consider updating your PC and you might be right, but if this issue comes from such a small source as 2 NPCs, isn't it the most simple and best solution to do something about those 2 than telling the 47% of maple's population (based on this pool) to go buy a new PC/components?.
Someone mention Girasol in this thread.
