Monthly subscription is dying out as a model it seems... Although there seems to be many fans of it at Southperry, personally I always hated it. I like that if I've had months or years of break from MS I can still log in for free to check how the game is and if I want to start playing again. I never lose the access, unlike in P2P where you constantly have to think whether it's worth paying over 10$ for a month when you don't know if you'll be playing.

The P2P model has been dying for years. WoW is pretty much the only P2P MMO that's still successful.

A few key notes that the article never mentioned:
    • Blizzard expects to have less subscribers at the end of the year than they do today.
    • Most of the decline in subscribers came from China.
    • There has been increased competition with F2P games in Asia.
