1. INT or Magic Attack?

Recently I used a chaos scroll and lost the Magic Attack on my Purple Adventurer Cape, but my cape now has +13 INT.

Should I try and Innocence the cape and get back the magic attack and slots? or is more INT better?

This is probably extremely obvious, but I'm not sure.

2. Re: INT or Magic Attack?

Clean PUAC is better than a 13 int cape.

edit: Well it'd be cheaper to buy a new one than to innocence no?

3. Re: INT or Magic Attack?

It depends on your Int:M.Att ratio. For most people, 4-5 Int will be equal to 1 M.Att, so it would probably be best to Innocence.

4. Re: INT or Magic Attack?

It's not a dumb question and isn't completely obvious.

I know there's a formula around here somewhere to find out what's better for you, int or matk.
But basically if you don't have a lot of % int gear, then matk>int.

I know for myself, 1 int>1 matk.

What level are you/ roughly what % int gear do you have?

5. Re: INT or Magic Attack?

You would need over 1000 matk for this to be true... O_O

6. Re: INT or Magic Attack?

Level 150 with roughly around 58% INT

I remembered that there was some kind of formula to it, and why I didn't think straight away that M.Att is better.

(I already have 2 innocence scrolls)

7. Re: INT or Magic Attack?

Well it's basically 1 matk = (int/matk) int

With int and matk being int and matk before potential and any other % bonuses.

8. Re: INT or Magic Attack?

I don't mean to sound rude but uhh..where are you pulling this information. The amount of int=m.atk varies from person to person.

With those stats, I'm pretty sure M.atk would be better.

9. Re: INT or Magic Attack?

Thanks very much! I've never been good with maths, so this helps a lot :)

10. Re: INT or Magic Attack?

You said int gives more than matk for you. Well mages have at least 999 int so you would need more than that much matk for 1 point of int to beat 1 point of matk.

edit: Oh and in the topic you linked

My formula is basically a version of that that assumes luk = 0

11. Re: INT or Magic Attack?

No problem. Although I'm not 100% set on this, just being honest haha. I'd wait until you get a second opinion if you're that concerned about it.

12. Re: INT or Magic Attack?

I see. Shinku was able to explain it to me a bit better.
However, as he said in his own words,"armor scrolls for mattk give 1 attack, but overall scrolls for int give 5 int
so 1m.attk may be worth 3 int, but the int scroll gives more int than that, so it's better".

Which is why I must have gotten confused in thinking that INT did more for me than MATK, when we had calculated that ratio for me previously.

13. Re: INT or Magic Attack?

Ah, that makes sense.

Also one of the formulas in the topic you posted reads

∂(Range) / ∂(W.Atk)
∂(Range) / ∂(STR)

= ∂(STR) / ∂(W.Atk)

So that's another way to calculate the ratio. Just check how much additional range an atk buff/equip gives, and how much additional range a stat buff/equip gives, then plug them into that formula.

14. Re: INT or Magic Attack?

Basically that formula above is an intuitive way of seeing the effect of int or matk.
Instead of bothering with all these variables, Locked's formula basically tells you to change your int or matk and see how much of a boost that gives.

So that's probably the first thing to try before even looking at formulas. Instead of bothering with formulas just test the effect in-game for yourself.

I also noticed a while ago that the following formula from the other topic

is incorrect and should actually be

(4*INT+LUK)/(4*INT%)
(MATK/MATK%)
