  1. Default Suggestion for potential done right


    I'm sick and tired of this game needing % chance to pineappleing do ANYTHING (hit monsters, pass scrolls, pass 4th job skills, grab potentials that don't suck and upgrade them, gachapon, etc). People are scared shi'tless to cube because of all the horror stories of taking ONE HUNDRED CUBES TO GET UNIQUE AND FIFTY FOR LEGENDARY. Such horsepomegranate.

    Hundreds of people paying for a fair system is better than 15 people paying for the 0.0000001% chance of getting a 30% main stat legendary equip in less than 12 cubes and then buying 150 cubes instead. It's a no wonder why everyone in the top guilds resort to hacks for EVERYTHING: The cubing system is unfair as pineapple. So here's a new cube system that'll rock Nexon's world (though they're probably too obsessed with making children gamble to care):

    Pick Cube
    50000 NX
    "Usable only on items with rare or epic potential. Immediately upgrades the item to unique potential, and if it did not have 3 lines before, then it will have 3 lines. You can freely pick what potential stats you want the item to have."

    Legendary Pick Cube
    40000 NX
    "Usable only on items with unique potential. Immediately upgrades the item to legendary potential. You can freely pick what potential stats you want the item to have."

    Nebulite Pick Cube
    25000 NX
    "Upgrades any nebulite lower than rank A into a rank A, and then allows you to pick what type of potential stats the nebulite will have."

    Pick Stamp
    100000 NX (yes 100k, given the cubes for the 4th and 5th potential lines are at 2400 each and have potential pools almost as bad as nebs)
    "Usable on any item with potential, even ones that already have the additional lines of potential. Grants the two additional potential lines at legendary rank and allows you to choose what potential stats your item will have."


    There, now it costs a fixed $215 to get a perfect world potential item. Just perfect scroll it first (good luck with that) and then pay your $215 and you will have the best damage ever. It's better than items that are like "OH HAY I'M GONNA BE PRICK AND NEED 100 CUBES FOR UNIQUE, 200 CUBES FOR LEGENDARY, 300 CUBES FOR LEGENDARY 4TH AND 5TH LINES, AND 400 CUBES FOR A RANK NEB THAT DOESN'T SUCK" because pineapple needing luck to do everything.

    I think I would just rather see a Rank-Up Cube. It could cost around 10k and would automatically rank-up your potential, but keep the same random selection. They could have a 10k version for up to Unique and perhaps a 15k version for legendary. They would make a lot more money that way.

    If they did a Pick cube, then to combine with the Rank-Up cube, I would make a cube that allows you to manipulate one line. It could also be 10k.

    Let's say you scroll a nice piece of Empress gear and it is just a 2-liner with crappy potential. YOu could make it a 3-line legendary the following way:
    1) Stamp for a 3rd line (14k or whatever it is)
    2) Rank-up cube x2 to get it to Unique (20k)
    3) Legendary rank-up to get legendary. (15k)
    4) Pick cube on each line (10k each, or if they made 15k legendary version then 15k)

    It would be around 100k to make it potential perfect. Then you could have as similar thing for additional potentials that cost a little more.

    I think if they are going to change potential (but not get rid of it), then there should be at least a method for doing it in game. I would be perfectly content with having cubes drop rarely and then having the cash shop sell better variants.

    Too bad Nexon doesn't give a rat's ass about how fair the potential system is.

    And there's no integrity left in the game all the way from the crony Nexon down to the greedy hacker. And as a result the normal non-hacking players have just about lost their hope in the game as well. So there it is, hard to imagine things going up-hill from here.

    Of course. We all would be content when those "rare" cube drops would be all over fm sold by the hundreds by botters. No need to spend NX anymore after that.

    Welcome to IVP (the guys who bought out Nexon long ago). Nobody gives a pomegranate about anything other than their wallets.

    You should see what they're doing to Runescape ever since Jagex got bought out by them. It's pineappleing ridiculous. If someone takes over the world, the first thing they should do is kill every investor on Earth for being literally the devils various religions speak of. They are the cancer killing /b/, every game and company in existence, and everything else, including themselves (because of all the death threats they get for pineappleing everything up).

    That is pretty expensive, and many would not be able to afford it. I'm pretty sure most people buy nx in smaller amounts, not 100k at a time. Plus it doesn't seem worth it to me. I understand the risk, which is why i all most never cube (besides the fact that i almost never buy nx in the first place). The last time i cubed was when miricule cubes where 800nx. I got 5-6. I used 2 on my hat and got it from a crappy rare to unique 6% all stats. The last 3 cubes did almost nothing. But its part of the risk/reward system. I do agree that it takes vast amounts of nx to get "good" potentials.

    MapleStory could probably take a page from Dragon Nest and get rid of all the flat rate stat modifiers. As they are, they only exist to dillute the pool with worthless results.

    What I mean is get rid of stuff like +120 Accuracy. Keep the % potentials and ones that affect non-stat related things such as +# seconds of mercy invincibility when hit.

    The cancer killing /b/ is pomegranateposting, i.e. Ponies, Trap Threads, Shemale Thread, Furry Threads, Porn dumps, hookup threads and raff ruse threads. Basically everything in /b/.

    Also you can stand to learn argue a point with less peaching.

    Things I'd add:
    1. Reduce prices of Miracle Cubes to 800 - 1k per. A dollar twenty is annoying, who has time for this pomegranate like seriously what why
    1a. Super Miracle Cubes become 1.5k, Premium becomes 2.5k, I forget the other two but you get the point.
    2. Miracle Cubes have a 4% Chance to increase Rank. Super Miracle Cubes have an 8% - 10% chance to raise rank.
    3. Reduce the amount of Potentials you can get to a pool of 30-40 that gets smaller as ranks increase. If you decided Accuracy isn't worth anything then don't give it to us as a Potential option.
    4. Allow cubes to drop at a low rate from bosses. Zak can have a .5% chance of dropping that goes up against more difficult bosses.
    5. Epic Potential scrolls become tradeable again. Allow them to drop from bosses or put them in Gacha or something. Just because you wanted to punish dupers doesn't mean you should alienate all of your new players by making them feel forced to buy NX. Crush their dreams slowly so you keep them longer.
    5a. At the very least reduce the number of Super Miracle Cube fragments you need to get them.
    6. Each item and person gets a unique ID. If character uses 20 cubes on a rare item it is upgraded to Epic automatically. 30 Cubes to Unique and 45 Super Miracle Cubes will force the item to Legendary.

    The best solution would be to dissappear potential, indeed. The game is broken as crap with everyone dealing 1m damage... I mean, 10m damage.

    The second best solution is just... make cubes drop from monsters. Like scrolls.

    Heck, make Gachapon coins drop from monsters, always hated that gambling too.

    Then, just keep the NX-versions too.

    Why not? We are getting non-NX Vicious Hammers, just expand the concept.

    Oh I know! Let's make it even more redundant by raising the speed cap to Extremely Fast-0 and add in Attack Speed potential to only the weapons! Even with that potential, Fast-5 which is the slowest weapon to reach the speed cap if the speed cap is raised will still PWN weapons that are superior by attack power since they HAVE better potential that isn't attack speed! That'll balance the gameplay!

    I mean, potential isn't even the worst part of the game. The worst part is Nexon deciding that players doing 200 damage isn't good enough, so they buff them to do 300 damage, then 500, then 1000 when monsters stay at 350 HP. But that's a discussion for another day.
