It irritates me to no-end that people consider crap about celebrities "current events" or "newsworthy."
By giving celebrities attention, positive or negative, you are giving them what they want. Celebrity status doesn't just apply to musicians and movie stars, by the way, but also to the retarded antics of internet-popular people.
Those people should not be encouraged, in any way. Validating their existence makes more people want to be like them, making a neverending cycle of degradation to societal standards. News is something that is actually important, like a hurricane that is about to wipe out a state, or the Mars landing that is happening soon. Not some two-bit "artist" changing his name on a whim.
When I can walk into a room full of people and ask them two questions, "1.) Who is the latest celebrity couple to be going through a divorce and why & 2.) What is the current US deficit and how did we get to that point" and 75%+ can give me a full blown explanation on why Katie Holmes is leaving Tom Cruise but I can't even get a handful who can answer #2 within the proper decimal range of what our current deficit is I think it should be pretty obvious of what constitutes news and what is nothing more than gossip that mindless sheep gobble up by the day.
The news should be characterized by something that is socially and politically relevant. Celebrities should not be socially relevant.

Wow can't believe this became a "what is real news" thread.
When I saw this on the front page I figured it was a shenanigans thread. Maybe a snoop dog "smoke weed e'rryday" version of the Lion King Castle music. Apparently not.

Current Events .
Not "Noteworthy News"
Anything can be an event. If it happened, happens, or is happening, it's an event.
If an event is timely, it's Current. e.g. appropriate here for people who might be interested or care.
I didn't found it important. I absolutely hate celebrity worshipping. Just thought that was funny and hesitated between posting it here or in the funhouse.
Guess I should've posted it in the house...
Edit: whoops, shenanigans it's called now.

I'm mad at you Snoop.
Not because of the whole 'its not news' thing.
But because you feel its okay for a canine to suddenly change families to a feline. THIS IS A OFFENCE TO SCIENCE YOU MONSTER.
Wow so he's changing over to the other side huh? I'm quite disappointed in him. He's a cat now, forever a shadow of his former self.
In other news I just ate a Tuna/Relish sandwich.
