Zombies aren't real, but madmen are.
It's a deranged, starving cannibal. Let him be.
There was a whole episode of Castle on the "zombie drug", but there are some real (highly illegal) stims that can make people shrug off bullets or at least those that don't immediately hit something important. The officer probably wasn't trying to shoot to kill either.
Some things that people do in real life are way scarier than zombie movies.Originally Posted by SaptaZapta

Damn... that dude was just hungry... leave him alone mmmmkay? :P
Even if you are shot, you still have a high likelihood of surviving.
Really his entire statement is an endless chain of "ifs" and "unlesses" regarding where you're hit, what you're hit with, how many times you're hit, the range at which you were hit, the nearness of available care, your own ability to care for yourself and on and on and on. Basically it was crap.

2 ifs there: not hit in an insta-kill organ (brain/heart), and assuming you can get proper medical treatment before your heart dies out.
Still crap, but still D=.
He was on "bath salts", a new drug that no one really knows much about except that it makes people batpomegranate insane. The guy was GROWLING. And he ate the old guys eyes.

Bath salts are freaking evil is all I know. I've known a few people in my area that were on them and while under the influence it was almost like they were possessed with someone else inside their body.
Just like the K2 it started out legal to sell that garbage (bath salts) in stores for quite some time. My state (IA) has banned them after people started having serious health issues from taking it. The stuff is like meth x1000 with PCP like side effects in some. The worst part about it is that it's different in each person, each time. I've seen some take it and it's like they took some speed and they are normal, while others get rage/seizures/become sociopaths while on bath salts.
This isn't actually that surprising, that stuff is the devil.
