I would take this with a grain of salt, since I can't get the discrepency to match up on a hero, but here's the variables here:
DK - 4797 HP (3% HP + 500 HP from Card Effects, no points in 1st Job HP Boost... or any other skills)
266 STR, 101 DEX, 15atk 1H Sword, 24 Blessing, 1atk from card set effect
8% HP to Damage (S Mikhail, S Hero, A DK)
Calculated range is 1.2 * (4 * 266 + 101) * 40/100 = 559.2
Displayed Range is 891
The difference is 331.8
Base HP is 4797/1.03 - 500 = 4154.369
8% of that is 332.3
Might be off due to rounding.
Problem with the hero though, even after stripping it, the discrepancy between the displayed and calculated range was ~926, but 8% of its base HP was 934. I think I'm just missing some sources of attack or HP.
It's not enough to say for sure, but, I think it's safe to say that %hp2DamX is x% of your HP added to your damage range, especially considering the effects of the other variables, lv2padX, lv2madX, and lv2damX, and %mp2DamX is probably the same as well. I'm sure we can probably do better testing on this end. The current kMST term is over anyway, though I did get into the next term, I'm not sure if there'll be a level up NPC, so basically all that's left is to wait.
I hope this clears up the last few mysteries of the Character Card System, even if it's not exactly the answer.
Based on my assumptions, the Bucc card would probably the best in terms of pure damage, with a level 200 Bucc, you'd get +1k range on a level 200 character, it even beats the SS Ranked All Warrior and All Mage sets, if you have less than 10k base HP/MP.

It's nice for Demon Slayers, granted I'm using the Merc's 4% CDR
4% CDR on lvl 15 Endless is 12 seconds (Lvl 16 is 11 seconds)
4% CDR on lvl 20 Binding is 5 seconds
It doesn't seem much, but being able to bind 5 seconds sooner and Endless 11/12 seconds sooner is a plus in my book.

assuming I have a DS with 30k HP what would be better tri-warrior or bucc ?
also assuming I have a phantom with less then 10k hp, what's better?
I thought BaM effect is reducing incoming damage, and Mercedes is CDR?

Oh trust me, it depends on the server tick, so 4.5sec is going to feel like 5sec about 90% of the time if you're playing on a 2X period.

Could someone explain to me what the 3 warrior "Strong Dash: %HP to Damage" means?
Least according to @iAmFear;, it takes 10% of your base HP and adds it as damage, but I'm hoping it's not "Base HP".
Well that's disappointing. Means I'll only get +1.7k damage increase on my DS, instead of 3.2k.

Ok yeah you're right @Dark Link; that's totally better than pirate set. Still doing pirate+resistance set though.
