Episode 1

I was not expecting Oswin to be a Dalek.

I have the strangest idea that different versions of Oswin are spread across the timeline or something and she's going to keep appearing in episodes up until the Christmas special.
I can't really think of any other reason why she'd show up /* in Victorian London with the name Clara. */ Plus, it would help to ease us into the new companion.

...Or maybe I just really want her to show up more. >_>

This episode has been pretty harshly reviewed, people saying it's one of the worst episodes. I disagree.

Dinosaurs... on a spaceship!

I liked the use of the companions in this episode. Even though this was mostly a filler episode full of fun, it had it's dark moments. Amy works surprisingly well in charge, and Rory was particularly funny in this episode. This episode has reminded me why I like Amy and Rory as companions.. and the interactions between the Doctor and Amy in this episode were full of foreshadowing towards Amy and Rory's deaths, which made me sad. The dinosaurs looked really cool and all the companions (5 of them in this episode!) got their chance to shine.

It's always a scary moment when the Doctor meets a villain that he really hates and despises, and that showed in full in this episode. People say that his cold blooded murder of Solomon was out of character, but I disagree.

So yeah, I really enjoyed this episode, the next episode doesn't look too exciting to me, to be honest.

And i'll admit it right here, I inwardly squeed at the Doctor/Rory kiss. Don't judge me.

Well, there isn't really much to say about it, is there? I thought it was a fun, well-made filler. And I don't mean it in a bad way. I liked it! It was choked full of cameos and it still worked. I cracked up when I read the credits and realised that those crazy nattering robots were voiced by Mitchell & Webb.

I don't pay much attention to reviews and stuff, but if there are bad ones it might just be because people are impatient about the series arc and how Souffle Girl is going to come back.

As for the next episode, I'm sort of looking forward to it, though only really because it took up so much space in the trailers. Also, I've been reading -

I just started watching Doctor Who. I was able to finish series 5, 6 and get caught up on 7. All I have to say Matt Smith is streets ahead of David Tennet and I'm looking forward to the rest of 7. Can't wait for the weeping angels episode tonight!

I just started watching Doctor Who. I was able to finish series 5, 6 and get caught up on 7. All I have to say Matt Smith is streets ahead of David Tennet and I'm looking forward to the rest of 7. Can't wait for the weeping angels episode tonight!

I actually preferred David Tennant, however Matt Smith has grown on me and is doing an amazing job!

Due to no Direct TV anymore I've been catching Doctor Who online. That being said, I ain't touching any of the spoilers before me until I get to Angels in Manhattan.

Episodes 2-4

Dinosaurs on a Spaceship: I don't think I've ever seen the Doctor so angry before. There was also massive amounts of ship teasing between the Queen and Indiana Jones here. Rory's dad is hilarious.
Town Called Mercy: It was both a sad and touching episode. Sad that an alien who thought he could repent by helping a town on Earth didn't work out for him, but on the other hand the town has a protector who pretty much is a walking Terminator.
Power of Three: Crappy stream made it hard to enjoy, I was greatly confused as to who this alien race in the episode was.

Is it wrong of me to not have felt anything when the Ponds left? Like I was so focused on the innumerable issues with the episode than with the Ponds actually leaving. The only time I even felt somewhat sad is when River said she hid her pain from the Doctor.

Just...too many things that made no sense, too many continuity issues, too many "what the pineapples are you even trying to write decent episodes anymore" :|

I wholeheartedly agree. I was surprised at how "simple" this mid season finale was. Moffat loves the convoluted soapy story lines and I expected the story to be much much messier. Yeah and he has a complete disregard for established facts, even from episodes he wrote himself. I thought RTD ruined Doctor Who but Moffat is a lot worse.

Weirdly enough, I'd been feeling this as well. Despite liking the episodes, most of them had a lot of plot holes. Not to mention that after I got over the Angels episode, I just kinda sat there, wondering "They deserved a better ending." I mean, they just kinda went poof in the last 5 minutes of the episode.

The writing in these just don't have the same feel as they did with Tennant and Eccleston. They feel too different. Not to mention Eleven isn't as much of a pacifist as Nine and Ten were. :/

The "stare into the eyes of an angel and you become an angel" thing apparently didn't exist anymore.

And the whole "picture of an angel becomes itself an angel" thing apparently doesn't exist either. How many pictures of the angels must have been taken over the years? Seriously? What?

The Doctor was saying he could break the angel's wrist but it's been previously established that while they're quantum locked they're indestructible.

And what the pineapple was up with the baby angels in the cellar thing? Why are they there? They're just chilling there for no reason. What the pineapple is even their deal.

The whole statue of liberty thing....just none of that made any sense at all. None of it.

Rory just HAPPENS to encounter an angel in modern day New York? Nobody else encounters them? No disappearances? Nothing? ???

(The suicide scene was just kind of funny for me. While Amy attempts to grab Rory's hand to get lifted up, she just sort of grabs at his crotch area, which I thought was funny. When they first start jumping they fall horizontally, but then 2 seconds later they're both vertical hugging each other? What. And then Amy's face while they were falling...she looked like she was having an orgasm.)

They spent the episode building up to the suicide scene. The suicide scene was the climax. The paradox was the resolving action. The episode was *done* as far as any coherent and practical plot is concerned. The Ponds leaving randomly in the last 5 minutes of the episode just made *no sense.* If you're going to kill off 2 major characters of a show, at least build up to the point where they're killed off, not a point 5 minutes before.

Watch the last scene again. RORY JUST RANDOMLY DECIDES TO STOP GOING INTO THE TARDIS TO LOOK AT THE GRAVESTONE. He's in back of the gravestone the entire time. At no point in the episode was he staring at the front of the gravestone. He's just like "well I'm going to walk back a few feet and stare at this gravestone. Oh? It has the same name as me? what a crazy random happenstance it totally must not be connected to the angels or anything"

OKAY SERIOUSLY THE GRAVESTONE. IT'S JUST A pineappleING GRAVESTONE. THEY DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW THE BODIES ARE IN THERE. NOTHING IS STOPPING THEM FROM JUST GOING BACK IN TIME, RESCUING RORY AND AMY, AND BEING LIKE YO GUYS LET'S MAKE A FAKE GRAVESTONE WITH YOUR NAMES ON IT AND CALL IT A DAY.

AND HOW IS RIVER ALLOWED TO GO BACK IN TIME AND SEE THEM AND YET THE DOCTOR ISN'T? THEY DIDN'T ACTUALLY ESTABLISH WHY THE DOCTOR WASN'T ALLOWED TO GO BACK IN TIME AND JUST TAKE THEM AWAY.

...And more. Sorry this whole season has just irritated the pomegranate out of me.

I wish Moffat would just get the "time can be rewritten" thread dealt with. I wonder how long he is going to keep mentioning that line.

Another thing is the whole "Silence will fall" and the Doctor "Who?" line that keeps popping up.

Looks like the Doctor will be asked a question and he will have to answer truthfully, I assume it will be his name...how/why any of this is relevant and why it ties into the Doctor deleting any mention of him in the Universe only Moffat knows.
