Well as far as i know its an anti hack program but i dont remember seeing anything about it and i dont know what good its doing if you can just close it in task manager....

There's about ten thousand combat arms threads about it and how easy it is to stop and exactly how useless it is at what little it supposedly does.

Oh, Nexon's own anti-cheating software. Well i sure feel safe now.

  6. Default Re: BlackCipher.aes

The next few weeks are going to be funny.
Nexon will try to improve their own made ant-hack shield or they wont do anything at all and leave it like this.
They will never ever succesfully create a good anti-hacking device. Never.
    Never...

Don't get snarky at me young man.

I don't understand why they don't out source it while im sure all online games have hacking issues they don't seem as prevalent as the ones in maplestory - this has been said before but what about wow do they have there own anti hack or is it 3rd party or did nexon approach said 3rd party company's and they said no due to current nexon practices i.e. server taking packet requests from the client.

    now i'm scared to patch.

a competently designed game has no hacking. Just botting. And that's virtually unstoppable.

In some ways, kind of screwed us over when we had so many people using the lie detectors to grief others, instead of hackers & botters. Now, we just have jokers that don't know how to properly use these when they do become available to use through little errors that Nexon have made in making content available.

Also happen to agree that a decent bit of code could have been plopped into the client to make it very hacker unfriendly. But I digress, Nexon needs to send their coders back to class for retraining in code stability.

Isn't the assumption that any computer system could be unhackable a major security risk? I don't think there's any such thing as an unhackable computing environment.

  12. Default Re: BlackCipher.aes

A computer not connected to the internet can't be hacked by outside sources. harhar.

  13. Default Re: BlackCipher.aes

Except if I stick a usb stick or a cd with auto run script that melts the computer?

  14. Default Re: BlackCipher.aes

That would only be relevant if "hacking" were being used correctly rather than in the way Maplers think of it.

    Bradley Manning

USB keys are notorious for carrying viruses.

People are in general huge security risks for information.

Why do people assume you have to be connected to the internet to be hacked? Any compromise of information from a computer system is a threat.

  16. Default Re: BlackCipher.aes

It would take more than "a decent bit of code".
It would require for them to restructure the way the entire game works.

    Adding this:

And many lulz were had, considering what I've read about Black Cipher in Combat Arms.
