Not every change to persistent data gets written to disk. Not to the database itself, and not even to some kind of redo log on the channel computer. The channel server writes select data whenever it feels something sufficiently significant has occurred. But often when channels crash, people experience a "rollback" of several minutes, that were never saved. That's the reason channel-crashing dupes work.
