Nexon Hates Reg./Low LUK.

Come on, you guys all know it. Nexon hates regular built characters (Sorry Normal-DEX Sins, Normal-LUK Magicians, Normal-STR Bowmen, ect). I mean, you have to give us old-schools some respect and at least some good items.


Let's look at what the LUK-less get:

-All the MS Anniversary Items
-YSS
-Maple Shield
-MW20 (Benefits more to them since it doesn't rely on their LUK or anything)
-Jesus Christ, even the Elemental Staves (130)...

Let's look at what the Reg./Low LUK get:

-All the Magician's items that require LUK ()
-Doomesday Staff (We thought we had a chance, but apparently an average scrolled Doomesday Staff is compared with a MS Staff (64) with 3/4 30%'s...)
-Elemental Staves (Excluding the 130)... But come on, who really is going to be Level 160 (Is it 160...?)
-Timeless Weapons (Thank God for these...)


As you can see, MapleStory has favor towards the -LESS class. You may think now, 'Well, the Normal-LUK can use Maple Shield, YSS, even the Elemental Staves...' Yes, but what's the point of using items that DON'T require LUK when you have a truck-load of LUK there? Nexon just gives a small piece of power by giving us the Timeless Weapons... But look at all the advantages the LUKless gets...

In conclusion, MapleStory hates us Reg./Low LUK

The only statless character that Nexon doesn't like is pretty much just the STR-less Bowmen. Other than that, yes, the statless characters have an advantage over the regular ones. Especially the LUKless mages, because the cost of making one is less than making a LUK mage and the fact that LUKless are stronger.

Timeless weapons don't really help normal luk mages, they've got the same luk required per matk problem.


If they increased the magic value of each m.atk that could make normal builds worthwhile (of course they'd also have to junk the 130 lukless wands, they're just plain broken). Something like 1.5-2 magic per m.atk on gear, and it could be worth it to wear a 145 matk Dragon Staff over a 100 matk Maple weapon.

The only class that benefits from being statless are warriors and mages. The strongest NLs are not using dexless claws, the strongest shadowers are not using kebobs, the strongest bowmen are not using maple bows, and the strongest xbowmen definently aren't using dexless xbows.

And before elemental wands, the 2 strongest mages were GenesisPro (with a phoenix wand) and newblet23 (dark ritual).

They just want non-luklesses to reset their AP. Luklesses could just add luck if they level if some insane normal luk weapon came out.

I never thought of it that way DrRusty, I guess it simply comes down to FUNDING. But if you think about it, Nexon just destroyed the possibility of a well-funded Low-LUK to catch up with a LUK-less now with the Elemental Staves.

Just for clarification, elemental wands are lukless while elemental staves require luk.

It would have to be even more extreme than that. I've done the math; you'd have to have at least around 2.5 INT = 1 MA, and even then Nexon would have to go on and make more weapons with higher MA than Elemental Wands 5-8.

I understand what you are saying, BUT I completely disagree. Nexon loves REG XXXX classes because they always end up buying ap resets with their life savings so they can actually match up with everyone else in the server.

I am not sure i would have more 'fun' if my mage was remade as lukless. It would still have the same moves and still train the same way. More damage doesn't always equal more fun.

You can't debate the fact that LUKless magicians are cheapest in cost to maximize their power. However, that doesn't mean LUK magicians are obsolete imo. I think they're around to look pretty. As a side note, have you seen the Crimson Arcanon (sp?). It looks AMAZING. ^__^

I'm too stat whore to go LUK for looks, lulz. If I owned a bishop I would consider, due to doomsdays being hawt. I don't think elemental wands will be nerfed, but bishops don't need that much power anyway since they'll ohko skele before arch mages for sure with GEN 30. :P

Nexon doesn't hate low LUK bishops. They do a reasonable good amount of damage for only slightly bigger cost compared to LUKless. You can beat the looks of Doomsday, though. Personally I perfer it over Elemental Wand. B> special HT pendant w/ 3 eggs on it :)

If only the Arcanon was more easily obtainable. The thing's been out for months, and I haven't seen any in Windia yet. x-x;

I wouldn't be as frustrated about this whole thing if they didn't get lukless wands in the hundreds. The whole time I thought it'd sort of balance out in the end, and it was like a slap in the face.

What's worse though, is when people go "it's your fault for picking an inferior build," or something. I mean, when I started playing there were ONLY those level 35/43 lukless weapons, and they were expensive as hell. How was I supposed to know they'd suddenly make lukless the cheapest/most powerful build in the end? Bah. </bitter>

Back then the only way to go was normal LUK. There were no LUKless weapons, except for the unscrollable umbrella's. You either capped your LUK for a Thorns or an ultra-rare Evil Wings.

Then they released the maple staffs. 'Fine', I thought, a bit variation in the class can't hurt. But the balance tilted too much to the LUKless side. Then the lvl 64 lukless staff was released, but also the doomsday staff, so I couldn't complain. And now they release a level 130 freaking LUKless wand? The hell are they thinking. If these get common the entire normal LUK community, yes the OLDEST community, gets destroyed.

Starting in 2008 should CLEARLY give you an unfair advantage over the players who started back in 2005.[sarcasm] At least give me a free total AP reset to remove the damage.

Ehhh... I started lukless back in 2005. The build was quite a deal cheaper back then too.

I started around Maple 1st Anniversary, when the first maple weapons were released. At that time, the concept of LUKless was new and I knew a bit about it - however, it was in the minority, so it wasn't popular

Time passes, it gets more popular. Level 64 maple weapons released 2 years later, gives LUKless the major boost. Then the final blow came with elemental weapons months later (level 130 ones especially).

Serioiusly, Im considered a "high-LUK mage" now (yes, even my own MS friends poke fun at me for it now), not a normal since I have 89 base (total of 114 with equips). If this bull continues, I (and other older normal-LUK mages that are not planning to reset AP/restart) will might as well be extinct in just coming months. I literally had no way to get a zhelm (remember 2-3 hour Zakum runs?) and my original plan was to cap at 89 for level 90 equips and Magicodar. But those plans were literally destroyed overnight in the new updates we got this year.

I'll bet some LUK mages were thinking about this: "Where the bloody hell is my dignity now?"
