Thread: Hero damage - help with my max dmg potential

  1. Default Hero damage - help with my max dmg potential

    To the best of my knowledge I am calculating my max damage for ONE (1) strike of Intrepid Slash correctly, but my observed max damage is significantly lower than my calculation.

    It is important to note that I am not interested in my max damage with enrage and/or chance attack. Taking them out of the picture, I have:
    Max ACA
    Max Intrepid Slash
    Max Combat Mastery
    +6% Total Damage
    My max damage range w/ buffs is 18632 (stop laughing at me)
    Also, the monster has a 20% PDR

    This is how I am calculating my max damage:
    max damage range * skill% * Combo Atk Bonus * Total Damage % * ((Max Critical Bonus-1)/Combo Atk Bonus+1) * (1-(1-Combat Mastery)*PDRate) = Max damage

    Or

    18632 * 2.1 * 2 * 1.06 * ((1.5 - 1) / 2 + 1) * (1-(1-.4) * .20) = 91244

    I have observed hundreds of critical hits and the highest one I have seen was 85XXX. Please tell me where I am going wrong here.

    Thanks!

    I think Combat Mastery works like it reduces 40% of what the monster's defense is? So if it's a 20% PDrate that means your combat Mastery makes it actually 12% PDrate.

    Idk, who do I look like, Dusk? F3.

    It's that way, yea. Add up your total -def %s and then that's how much of the 20% you negate. Since you only have your 4th job skill it'd be 0.2-(0.2*0.4) for PDrate. 12% like above.

    Check out that last line. He already has it factored in properly.
    (1-(1-.4)*.2) = .88
    So he's multiplying out the 12% for pdr

    TS: I'm not sure where you went wrong but I haven't kept up to date with heroes so I'm mostly useless here.

    As far as I know, atk % shows up directly in your damage range, so you don't multiply it twice.

    I don't think there's such a thing as "total atk%" though - it's either "total damage %" or "attack %"

    18632 * 2.1 * (2 + .5) * 0.88 = 86080
    2.1 = IS
    2 + .5 = Combo + Crit
    0.88 = def reduction

    My formula is calculating PDrate at 12%...

    Sorry, I have 6% Total Damage %, not 6% attack..... I wrote it wrong in my post. I fixed it now.

    I still can't figure out the critical formula for heroes. I think there's where it goes wrong. Try and see if your top non crit is around 72~73k, at least that'll isolate the issue.

    Edit: Would you happen to be lower level than the mob? Damage penalty is still present after big bang.

    Ahhhh....I did'nt know about the damage penalty. I am 2 levels lower than the mob. I guess its either the damage penalty or wrong calculation of critical that probably explains it.

    Also, good idea about looking at my highest non-crit damage. I will do that as well after I factor in the damage penalty to see if crit is being calculated wrong.

    Thanks for your help, off to find damage penalty formula.

    Normally, pre-BB, it was simply X% damage reduction where X was the level difference.
