  1. Default Final Fantasy Tactics Advance Thread

Who else here plays final fantasy tactics advance on GBA/VBA? If you do, describe your clan briefly =)

As for me, my clan is pro XD. My clan name is Clan Ultima and there's a very good reason why...
Anywayz all my six main characters can solo most missions with one of them can 1HKO Li Grim, the final boss that is considered almost insanely hard coz of her damage.

Here's a picture of my six clan members statistics below:
    Spoiler

To those who played ffta, describe your clan below.

and One with Ninja tabi and 2 swords.
And a few mages mixed in too.

Is this a good game and what's the plot like? I'm thinking about trying it out.

How did you get 2 ninja tabi? I can only get one without cheats O_O.

My six clan members can literally 1HKO anyone with their attacks and for every battle, I only need to send one person in out of boredom (unless the other team has a KOing move like the Assassins Last Breath).
I wanted to call my clan Ultima Knights but it wouldn't fit so... yea.
All my chars have their ultima abilities that hit heavy damage at the cost of a whopping 60 mana (30 for my sage and assassin thanks to Half MP).

I guess Judgemaster Cid doesn't have very good natural base stats? I haven't played in awhile but I beat the game on my Visualboy emulator. Entertaining game.

LOL @ Arch Sword on Marche and Half MP on the Assassin.

If you're being sceptic on my choices, here are my reasons:
Arch sword is the 3rd strongest (excluding sequence coz I cbf doing battle tourneys) knightsword in the game with nagelrok and excalibur 2 being the best. Because Excalibur 2 is holy elemental, it's literally hopeless against people resistant or absorbing holy (eg, fairies, li grim, and mages wearing mistle robe) Thus I use non elemental weapons to prevent that.

Also Half MP on assassins is one of the best support skills you can have on an assassin. Because its mp growth is literally crap and all it's skills burns tons of MP, Half MP reduces not only Ultima Masher but Last Breath, Rock Seal and Oblivion thus I can use it as many times as I want (there are no such thing as MP recovering skills or items in ffta excluding absorb MP)

How can you not be bothered to get the Sequence to 47+? It's not that hard if you level up your characters. Also, it gives 1 extra movement. Excalibur2 has no element to it either, as far as I know. If I can find my game, I'll double check with a screen shot for you.

Why use Half MP on an Assassin, when you should use Concentrate for 95% Last Breath/Rock Seal/Ultima Masher? What good is Half MP when you can't hit the person? Unless you're savestate abusing, you should be using Concentrate. Assassin's MP growth is not crap, by the way. The only higher MP Growth in the Viera tree is a Summoner. That being said, your Viera must have been an Archer for a load of levels or something to explain the crappy MP it has.

Also, I recommend Fighter Tech instead of Aim for your Hunter. Only thing I ever used an Archer for was the Boost, and that'd only be used once on the first turn when everything was out of reach. With Fighter Tech, you can Beatdown (I can't recall if Concentrate improves the accuracy for this or not) for 2x damage, no MP cost, and Rush people off of cliffs or into better positions for Area of Effect spells and skills.

I've always been partial to Templar/Gladiator for Bangaa, using an Odin's Lance. Damage isn't as high as an Estreledge, but he can Haste, Cheer, and pierce two panels.

Anyways. You're missing a Peytral, and an Acacia Hat on your characters. And people use Shields for the EVA not the DEF.

    You can trade tabi.
I could be wrong on having 2 sets though.
I know you can trade them because at one point I DID have 2.
All moogle gun teams are pretty hardcore though.

I never optimized my characters of FFTA, although I really liked it. My first playthrough I didn't have enough black thread My second run was a lot smoother but I only tried to max all their abilities, although I never finished doing that. Well, I, uh, got all of my clan to 50...

I don't know why so many people hate Montblanc and kill him off. Does it really hurt to keep Montblanc in your clan? It's not like you have to use him (at least not after a jagd appear iirc). I do though, since I thought he was a cool character and I never knew much about the stats.

Excalibur 2 has no element. Only the original Excalibur is Holy. I checked on my game, but then I remembered I bookmarked this awhile ago: Proof Scroll down to check.

By the way, how'd you make your screen shots so clear?

By the way (2), my original hume has the same name as your hume.

If I recall correctly, Montblanc has crappy stats because he starts with base stats of a Black Magician, when Moogles suck as Magicians. That, and his graphic is ugly and his dialogue is annoying.

On the VBA, there's a function to save screen shots as .PNGs. Also, it would depend on the video renderer used by VBA. One gives you hard crisp lines, another gives you smooth soft edges and colours. Don't recall which is which though.

Well, I was asking why people kill him off just because he had bad stats, but I guess there's a good case if you think he's ugly.

    And thanks for the explanation.

Ok, ill change the knightsword weapons now, thanx for telling me that.
Also unless my game is glitchy or buggy, concentrate doesn't stack up the chances with a successful last breath or rockseal (but it does for ultima masher though). Still I can cover the accuracy from attacking behind.

Fighter skills may be good but Archer skills give unfriendly buffs which are extremely useful in incapitating the enemy, something which fighter doesn't have. Fighters yes they have superior high damaging skills but they cannot dish out unfriendly buffs which I can use to pin down the enemy thus I use Archers aim skills.

Templars are one of the best bangaa jobs (I've even used them before).
I've polayed this game like several times and 70% of the time I use Dragoon/Templars, Dragoon/Gladiators or Templar/Gladiators so in this one, I'm relying on a defensive and offensive bangaa. This combo worked out well (except for the battle tech skills with exception to downsize) as he has superior defense against all characters and can dish out HEAVY damage equivalent to my previous bangaas.

As for the Peytral and the Acacia Hat, I DO have them except I seriously cant be bothered in the tourneys especially the clan tourney in getting hte peytral.

Oh and as for your latest post, I totally have to agree with you, Moogles are the worst magicians I've probably ever used and I find it horrifying that Montblanc starts off with Black Mage stats which makes it a real pain raising it as a mog knight/gunner.

  14. Default

Personally, I use Acacia Hat and Peytral anyway (I don't do the tourneys that much either), if only for the move boost. And, you don't really need defense if you can kill most of the enemies within the first turn.

However, I guess your style is different, as you seem to like one man missions, which you may need defense for. You probably got that habit/style, as well as your worry about defense, from more strategic rpg's than FFTA. As fun as FFTA is, it's lacking in the strategic aspect.

And stop bashing moogle mages...They may be bad but still..

  15. Default

Moogles are not meant to be Mages. You want a Mage, make a Nu Mou, or get an Assassin bred, Summoner Viera.

Acacia and Peytral give magic and attack bonuses respectively, as well as a one movement, which really helps a lot more than the minor defense loss.

  16. Default

Yes, moogles are literally horrible as magicians. At least get a gunner or mog knight with it.
Humans to my opinion make crap mages as well along with Bangaas (bishops).

You're quite right Salguod, I do enjoy sending one person in any mission/battle for the fun of it.
My Marche can easily KO everyone but I still have to watch out for assassins tho.
Montblanc can snipe enemies down with beatdown and ultima charge making him deadly with long range.
Kief (my human) can snipe down opponents like my moogle.
Dave (my bangaa) he simply rushes in and charges down enemies.
Kenneth (my nu mou) can just rely on magic to take down others even with Ultima Blow but I consider him the weakest of my Ultima Knights
Undine (my viera) just simply conceals and pick off opponents one by one...
So in short, all my characters are suitable for one man missions/battles.

Has any1 got every single weapon in the game?
I'm missing a diabolique (dark rapier that Ritz uses in the Golden Clock mission) and I can't seem to get it after beating the game like 10 times.
I'm also missing on a few mythril weapons, getting them without trading is a real pain even on VB >.<.

I've gotten every item in the game except about half of the Mythril. You have to Steal: Weapon the Diabolique, I think.

I STILL haven't got the mythril rod >.< and I don't have mythril claws either...
Funnily enough, I got like 6 mythril souls during my mythril hunting...
Also where do you steal the diabolique?

  19. Default

From Ritz in one of those story fights, I think. I'm not 100% sure if that's the only way to get it, but I recall stealing one from her. Or from one of the Viera on her team, maybe. Try checking the Viera Clan Match. It's not that great of a Rapier in any case, but I guess you're just going for completion.
