Yeah, I don't like icons.

You can ditch the Recycle bin as well. I just pin it to the Explorer Icon. I like Taskbar shortcuts a lot better than desktop icons.

I tend to Shift+Delete everything so.. the recycle bin itself is pretty useless for me :p

I went to Personalize -> Change desktop icons -> Uncheck Recycle bin. I just have it pinned so I can still access it quickly if I ever need to.
