They're all on the smash bros website,

I think the comments are coming from miiverse.
A "Sub-machine gun". Oh Nintendo, why you so clever?

On one hand, it'd be better if they could keep them all a secret before launch.
On the other, it makes me worried that earlier leak that got half of the characters right is all that we'll be getting.
(The leak was Wii fit trainer, Villager, Megaman, Little Mac, Pac Man, and Miis).
Given the arena stage is almost completely based on punch-out!!! on the wii, Little mac is as confirmed as he can get anyway.
Well, i can't exactly say i am disappointed. Villager and megaman both look like incredibly solid characters already, and wii fit trainer doesn't look that bad either based off what very little we know of her. I feel like miis are a bit of an ass grab but i'm sure they can make something work. Little mac could be really cool but i don't know a single thing about that universe.
To be honest, there isn't that much of a "universe" to punch-out. There are only 3 games and they're all pretty similar. Though the fighting style of the game shows up quite often in other games. It was in one of the boss fights in Sonic Unleashed (Wii) and another boss fight in (A recent wii U game spoiler) , for instance.
The jist of it is Little Mac is a boxer (main character of the first and third games) and the game focuses heavily on dodging and countering. It has quite a number of other characters that they could use moves from in addition to little macs moves.
Also, to steal someone elses summary of why that boxing ring place is absolutely a punch out stage.
The main reason I'd be disappointed with only 6 new characters is the sheer lack of new characters rather than the quality of them. Brawl had like 15 new characters, and there are still a lot of Nintendo icons I want to see in smash bros.First off, the audience is human, so you can rule out any possibility that this is a Kirby themed stage (all Kirby boxing rings have Kirby characters instead). The marquee's in the background are all dot styled, which is consistent with the marquees in Punch Out Wii, and even the title screen and round indicators for Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

All logos in Punch Out Wii are adorned with clusters of stars, which are usually in 3's because triple star punches are the most powerful punch in the game, as well as the "leaf vines" on the sides (forgive me; I don't know the term for this) and a giant star somewhere in the middle. The logo in the ring, while being smash themed, shares all of these characteristics.

The ring ropes are also identical in both color and configuration as the Major Circuit ring in Punch Out Wii. Similarly, the corners are all identical colors and positions as the Punch Out Wii corners. The logo in Smash also features a ribbon at the top, which is a direct throwback to the World Circuit ribbon at the top and bottom of the logo.

Also, as a random tidbit, the ribbon in the Smash Punch Out stage says "CHAMPIONSHIP" on it, which is probably because if it straight up said "Major Circuit" on it, it would be flat out obvious. Plus since Smash Bros doesn't have "circuits", championship makes more sense in the context of the game.
The final fight in Punch Out Wii, Mr. Sandman, has a very particular entrance for both his Title Defense and Contender fights. He approaches the ring while there's a green laser light show that goes on behind him. Well, check this out...

Same green laser show.
That's what i was looking for. Something to make little mac distinguishable as a character. Outside of marth, roy, and peach i can't really say there are countering and dodging oriented characters, just characters that have the ability/option. I can't say that move set is the same as camping either because camping prevents and answers other people's approach, whereas dodging/countering would be preventing and answering combos and that'll have a huge impact on the make up of the game.
By the way, project M 3.0 is supposed to be getting released today. The site is down but hopefully it will be public by 9 pm :(
Spoiler
I think we all know who is being announced.
Holy crap yes. Rosalina + Luma!
Rosalina whoaaaa.
And Kirby looks soooo cute in that video!
at first i thought Kirby was gonna be in MK8 :'(
Hell yes, her playstyle looks pretty nice.
I was expecting at least 2 character reveals... But we got Rosalina AND Luma, which is close enough.
Ugh, trailers refuse to load on my work computer.
Still, I'm ok with this.
OMG Kirby + Luma in the end are sooo cute!!
I had a feeling Rosalina would be big and I'm glad to see she's finally here!
