  1. Default New Status Effects


    Because why not.

    Mesmerized:
    Similar to Seduce, the player loses control of their character and will follow and attack other players in their expedition. Can be dispelled and wears off after a bit.

    Possessed:
    Player becomes possessed by a ruthless and vengeful spirit. The player can only rid himself of the curse by attacking and dealing enough damage to another player. Barring that, the afflicted player will die in 20 seconds and the ghost will possess another living character. However, other characters are allowed to attack the player to dispel the ghost, who will leave the fight once the afflicted player dies. Casting Heal will banish the ghost. The ghost lasts 60 seconds if not killed, meaning it can take over up to three players.

    Body Theft
    Similar to the above, but the boss itself jumps into a player while the player controls the boss, similar to that boss PvP nonsense. Jump + Direction becomes teleport if the particular boss can do that. On the afflicted player's screen, a UI appears telling him or her what keys activate what skill. if the boss' body takes too much damage, the player will die. The bodies will revert back to their proper owners soon enough.

    Zero Gravity:
    The afflicted character will start to float in the air as if they were swimming. Ranged character attacks no longer automatically curve to hit their target. Player will slowly rotate while suspended in midair, making aiming difficult.

    Petrified:
    Player becomes petrified in stone and will inch his or her way to death unless every other party member attacks him or her at the same time.

    Exhausted:
    MP Consumption for all skills is quadrupled.

    Desperate:
    The player's morale is crushed and they are forced to act drastically. Attacks will now consume HP rather than MP.

    such nice methods to make a boss fight more difficult, but it's gonna be a real pain in the butt to counter.

    and also, goodbye to solos if this actually comes to maplestory?

    Exausted doesn't seem very fair to classes that dont use MP

    What would happen if Desperate was applied to a Demon Avenger?

    Petrified basically exists as the cage from Hard Hilla

    Anything that involves a player attacking other players is problematic, considering players have 5 digit HP and 7-8 digit damage (per hit). You'd need to re-introduce the "battle mode" stats and skills and make them work on certain maps but only against/by characters afflicted by the status... too much room for abuse.

    simplified, this is seduce + walking time bomb

    this one seems quite impossible >_<

    TOO complicated! but i love the Ice Knight concept. but why wouldnt the player suicide/give up?

    this is my favorite, and not too difficult to implement. not so sure about the "rotate" part, but a timed map effect turning to swimming map.
    maybe disable attacks all together

    stated above, Hard Hilla does this. it is the most annoying ability in the game.

    these two are also great. as for Avenger, its just his luck it wont affect him. no need to make special difference. x4 mana is a LOT tho.
    and just like Avenger would have no problem, Kanna would basically be screwed.

    The ones that require players to attack each other would have to have a special boss designed around them. I wouldn't just give that move to Ark or something like that. Also some of these bosses shouldn't be attempted solo ever.

    I don't think I see the room for abuse, if you go around brutalizing all your teammates then the boss is just going to run a train on you anyway. I just wanted to add some friendly fire mechanics.

    Petrified is a weaker form of Hilla's cage. It has an HP bar afaik, for petrified you just need everyone to attack the player at once.

    Anyways, here's three more:

    Erratic:
    The player's speed and jump are tripled. This status is afflicted by bosses like Magnus wherein the player has to constantly dodge things.

    Ethereal:
    Player becomes immune to touch damage but takes increased damage from magic attacks.

    Leaded:
    The player's attacks become weighted, lowering their attack speed by a stage and increasing the delay on their attacks by 10%

    They don't curve due to gravity, because they don't curve at all. They're just fired at an angle.

    You don't need the aiming removal for the rotating mechanic to work, either. If that was your idea.

    Quadruple HP or MP cost? And the thing Demon Slayer, Kanna and Zero use.

    Nothing. It's not like he's the only class that uses HP anyway.
