During internal testing for v159, we discovered an issue with the auto-patcher and the manual patcher that would affect many players on v158.1 or v158.2. Players who already exclusively use Steam or Nexon Launcher to play MapleStory will not be affected by this issue, so they can disregard the following.
If you encounter "Map.wz is corrupt" error while using the auto-patcher or the patching stops on the map.wz file while using the manual patcher, please follow the steps below to get the correct files for v159.
[Update 1/21 11 PM] We've updated the v158 to v159 auto-patcher and the v158 to v159 manual patcher. While this will address the patching issues for more players, there will still be some players who are affected. If you are experiencing issues patching from v158 to v159, follow the steps below.
Simplest method
Click here to download the v159 full client downloader.
Run the
MapleStory_Downloader.exe when it finishes downloading and follow the prompts to install the client.
Here's what the downloader will look like when it's running:

When it finishes downloading the full client installer, it will say "Ready to install," and an "open" button will appear. Click the "open" button.

Our Terms of Use will appear. Read through these and click "Agree" if you accept them.

Next you can choose where to install MapleStory. The default folder that will appear is
C:NexonMapleStory. When you're ready, click "Install."

If you already have MapleStory installed in the folder you chose, a warning message will appear letting you know that the current folder will be deleted and replaced.
This includes your screenshot folder if you keep your MapleStory screenshots here, so be sure to move your screenshots out of this folder if you want to keep them. When you're ready to do this, click "OK."

The full client installer will begin the installation process. Here's what it looks like:

When the installer is finished, a message will appear letting you know that the installation is complete. Click "OK."

Log into our website if you aren't logged in already, then click the "Play" button. MapleStory will launch.

Other methods
Regular Manual Patcher:
The v.159 manual patcher is available for players who currently have v.158 installed. This file has been updated as of 1/21/2015 at 11 PM Pacific.
- Download the manual patch by clicking this link: ManualPatcherv159.exe
- Double-click on the patcher.
- Select the folder where the game is installed. For most players, this folder is C:NexonMapleStory
- If the manual patcher stops on Map.wz, please download the full client or use the hotfix patch mentioned below.
- If you see this message: "maplestory.exe not found," MapleStory must be located in a different folder. Please select the correct folder.
Hotfix Patch:
While patching from v158 to v159, if you encounter a "map.wz is corrupt" error while using the auto-patcher or the patching stops on the map.wz file while using the normal manual patcher, you can use the following hotfix patch.
- Download the hotfix patch by clicking this link: Hotfix158to159.exe
- Double-click on the patcher.
- Select the folder where the game is installed. For most players, this folder is C:NexonMapleStory
- If the hotfix patch stops on Map.wz, please download the full client, use the auto-patcher, or use the regular manual patcher mentioned above.
- If you see this message: "maplestory.exe not found," MapleStory must be located in a different folder. Please select the correct folder.
Full Client Installer without the downloader program:
The v.159 full client installer is available below. If you experience issues while using the
regular downloader, please click to download the five files listed below. You must save these files to the same folder. Then simply run the MSSetupv159.exe file to install MapleStory normally.
